Get rid of all of the Spanish moss choking those Pear trees and prune the deadwood back and those Pears will be fine.

The ramps at wingates are open because it is within the leased hold of the owners of Wingates and operated by them...not the corps. The same goes for the ramps at the basin in Bainbridge as well as the city run marina on the west side of the flint.

In "Three Mavericks", what is the guy on point doing? I don't see a rod in his hands, or his hands for that matter. Is it not finished?

Re: Tractor Gun & 4WD Vehicle Questions

I've got a lever action Winchester carbine in 357mag with a red dot site. Will kill anything you are likely to encounter in the woods, anything! good on hogs/deer/coyote out to 150 yrds. I use the same loads for deer as for humans, Hornady Critical Defense. From a pistol at 100yrds the bullet is at ...

Re: fishery disaster for Florida's oyster industry

I would like to see some historical data from the Dept of Ag. on the real volume of oysters that have come out of the bay over the last 20 years. Also, What happens if/when the River Keeper gets what it wants and there is 100% unrestricted flow of the Flint and Chattahoochee rivers from North Georgi...

Re: fishery disaster for Florida's oyster industry

I guess harvesting the oysters at an unsustainable level following DeepWater Horizon didn't factor into there being a collapse in population in the following years? All natural resources must be managed for sustainability not the demand for the product or by how many families make their living doing...

Re: GA/FL Ground water levels still low? Critical?

Are you sure these are spring ( auquifer-fed) ponds? Lots of ground water/run-off ponds up that way. I attached a section of a soil/ water report that includes Rockhole pond to the west and Brown pond to the east. Here's the link to the site if any of you ever want to run your own soil reports( shou...

Re: 3,750 acres of public land near Lake Miccosukee for sale

No FHC I don't have it listed, however I think I have a good idea who will more than likely buy it. Just a few responses to some of the points a few of you have tried to make: " The State of Florida holding title to this land really doesn't cost the taxpayers anything, and the gain from propert...

Re: 3,750 acres of public land near Lake Miccosukee for sale

Wally: The idea of public use lands is IMO a good idea but, it should have limits. I can understand a tract that is geologically rare or environmentally special but every 4000 ac swamp in the state of Florida is neither rare or particularly special. For that reason and the reason you pointed out (th...

Re: 3,750 acres of public land near Lake Miccosukee for sale

I think it is perfectly reasonable that the state is looking to sell the tract. I also think an NGO is perfectly capable, if not more so than the govt., in managing a tract like this. There are more than enough State and Fed environmental regs to limit any potential damage to a watershed, plus the p...
