If you were to launch at Keaton, you could go out to about the third or second last channel marker - turn north and look for a line of three or four markers out from a white house on the shore. The furthest marker stands up straight, the second is keeled over a bit. I mark the furthest pole at N29.4...

In many ways I don't feel as though I deserve an opinion. I've only been fishing for trout and reds for about seven years (and mostly catching dogfish and ladyfish ;-) Also - I don't fish for meat. But I have buddies who do. If it would improve the fishery I think they would all be happy to go down ...

Thanks for the good advice. We should have followed it. Although there were complications. We DID launch at the marina - a good choice with almost NO water on a negative tide and the new water just slowly creeping in .. we headed to a spot that we know hold reds and tolerated the wind as we hunted o...

With pretty low water Sunday at 7 I thing the sob-in-law and I will launch at KB Marina and head toward the creeks .. but we have never made that run. Would ap...

Many many thanks. You are all most helpful. It helps to know where those rocks are. I may dash the son-in-law on one of those rocks and steal his boat. But only if he out-fishes me ... AGAIN.

Advice on Putting in at Econfina

My son in law and I generally put in at Keaton Beach but want to try launching at the Econfina. Any free advice? We use an 18 foot bass boat (alum) that drafts about 18 inches of water .. another friend has said that rocks in the river can kill ya. We could use a canoe but then he'd have to paddle m...
