Re: Who's going fishing this Saturday?
We went out from Econfina today (Friday). From Aucilla to Rock Island looks like very strong tea! I would have thought that the water would have cleared some by now. The tannic acid water is just flat out nasty when it comes to fishing. Couldn’t see my lure at 12” depth. Ughhh

Saturday Econfina
I had a memorable trip with my son and 83 year old dad. On the water just after daylight until 2pm. We must have caught over 100 short trout and finally managed to get our limit of trout. We did not fish for reds on this trip, because we were plum tuckered out! Everytime I looked up my dad was reeli...

Re: Went fishing & killed a deer; Wakulla is Different
I took my dad fishing down to Econfina a couple of years ago. I dropped him off in Quitman, and I headed back to Moultrie. A deer jumped off a ditch bank and landed in my boat. It broke the windshield, steering wheel, depth finders, throttle lever, and various trim pieces. Total damage was over $1,3...

Re: Today's Catch 5-4
Hey Blue Spinner, we were out there close to you before you headed out to the bird rack. The 5'-6' water was the only depth we could catch fish. I heard you mention your cobia on the radio. Right after that we had a 36" cobia right to the boat. He didn't know he was hooked, and when he did it w...

Re: Econfina April 13th.
I just upgraded to the 22' Sea Chaser. I really like this boat, and I do have a jack plate. The main thing about the Econfina is watch out for the rocks that are marker. They are marked for a reason. Tight lines and be safe!

Re: Econfina April 13th.
I have a 22' Sea Chaser with a 150 Yamaha. We go out of Econfina all of the time. I will admit it scared me to death the first time I saw a very low tide at Econfina. It's really not that bad if you don't go out on low tide. Just give the river some time to rise and you will be just fine.

Re: Boat insurance
I have State Farm boat insurance. Last winter I had a deer jump off of a ditch bank and land in my Bass Tracker. It broke my depth finder, console, windshield, steering wheel and throttle lever. About $1,300 damage, and I had no problems with State Farm. Both of my boats are insured with State Farm.

Aucilla and Wild Deer Story
My dad and I launched at 2:00 from Aucilla and we had a limit of trout by 4:30. Also caught 2 large blue fish. No reds caught on this trip. Live shrimp under popping cork worked better than Gulp or mirror lures on this trip. We loaded up and headed home. I dropped my dad off in Quitman and headed ba...

Re: fishing report 11-2
Took my dad down this morning and we wore them out! 3'-4' seemed to be the best. He fished with shrimp under a CT, and I fished a several different colored Gulp. 4" gulp worked better than 3". Caught a 2-man limit of trout plus several bsb! Awesome day on the water making memories with my ...

Re: Ecofina April 22nd-24th report.
I tried Mirrolures 750, 808 and a gold Redfin hoping to wade thru smaller fish in hopes of catching bigger fish. I threw the color out of those baits, but no takers! I really think the fish are scattered all over the flats. Oh, those 5-10 mph SE winds forecasted for today were only off by 10-15 mph....

Re: Ecofina April 22nd-24th report.
Dad hooks his shrimp through the middle near the head. We have a cousin that guides out of Tybee Island, and he put us on to this. We usually fish toward Hickory Mound and Rock Island, but we went towards the west today. All of our biggest trout were full of roe! These gals are ready to spawn!

Re: Ecofina April 22nd-24th report.
Monday report: Got to the ramp about 7:00 with my dad. Back with a limit of trout about 1:00. We had 2 trout over 20", 3 trout 19", and the rest were 16"-18". Nice, fat, healthy trout! We must have caught 30 shorts. 1 Spanish Mack, 1 bluefish, 4 bsb, 1 lady fish, and 1 ole nasty ...

Re: Econfina Saturday
We caught about 15 puppy reds. Fun to catch, but we failed to catch any keepers. We caught about half on live shrimp and half on Gulps. We caught all of the reds between 2:00-3:30 on Saturday. We had to leave early or we would have gone farther back in the creeks. Once we found the bait, the fish we...

Econfina Saturday
Tough day at Icky. We fished all over the flats from the mouth of the river to Rock Island. We figured the trout would move out of the creeks. WRONG! Those rascals are still in tight. Find the bait, and you will find the fish. Pinfish were in the grass, and so were the trout and reds. Live shrimp on...
