Re: Power-Pole Micro Anchor
What size skiff? I had a Micro on my Gheenoe LT25 and it worked fantastic. I have an 8' Sportman on my 18' Action Craft it it works fantastic. Capt. Dave had a Micro one on his Bevertail skiff and it's didn't work nearly as well. He had water intrusion problems and had to send it back several times ...

Re: Locking latches
Replacing SS latches is not an inexpensive project. They were $60 per on my 1820 Action Craft..... times 7.
But......it's a boat.

Re: Xpress Shallow Water Bay 22
I don't know a thing about these new metal bay boats, so I really don't have anything to add to the discussion. But....I believe you have made your decision and are ready to buy the boat. So if you have the money and approval from the wife then get busy buying it.

Re: This could be you...with a PLB.
Got mine a few months ago.. now I need to quit using it like an eprib and wear it. I managed to slip mine into my inflatable life vest. I wear it all the time when I fish alone. Most of the PLB's come with a short tether so you can attach it to your vest. I did that and it still tucked pretty neatl...

This could be you...with a PLB.
This is a great lesson in the value of a Personal Locator Beacon. It could save your life, your wife, your son, your daughter, and your friends one day.

Re: Looking for a new house where I can park my boat
I think you are missing the point of the sell now and rent option. Yes, when you rent you are paying someone else's mortgage. However, if you buy and the market corrects 30 or 40%, you will be paying on a mortgage that's way more than the current value of your home. Now you have lost tens of thousan...

Yes, the big "sock" of dredged material is still there and will be for a while per Mike the Dockmaster. So Parking is way worse than before.

Re: Lanark this Saturday
I don't fish kill tournaments so I don't have a dog in this deal but Lanark this Saturday afternoon seems like not the best idea. I spend a lot of time down there and I won't even go there on Saturday. It's private property, membership required. There won't be one square inch of space to park even i...

Hopefully far away from where I'm fishing. lol
Sorry.....I'm just a crusty old guy that wishes he could fish in peace and load up at the ramp without being in the middle of a poop show.
When I am lucky enough to have that Grandkid I'll be right out there with you.

Re: Plotter recommendation $500-1,000
I agree with SG. (as usual) The FMT chip is great for inshore, like right along the coast. Perfect for St. Marks and all points South. It's somewhat useless for anything more than a mile offshore. For that, the Navionics chip is much more useful with shading and depth contour lines. I have an Elite ...

Re: Which maps are best
The Hook 7 barely has the processor speed to run the Navionics Plus maps, but luckily they are great maps and will serve you well. FMT is great but you have to have a larger screen and more power to run it.

Re: Jon boat or Gheenoe for flats
Redbelly what kind of Action Craft do you have?
I've had 3 of them over the years. Currently in a 1998 1820 SE with a new Yamaha 115 SHO. The hull is 2 owner, garage kept since day one and in beautiful shape for a 23 year old boat. Frankly, it's bilge is cleaner than my nearly new Pathfinder. lol
