Destin Oakley Redfish tournament

After taking a siesta from the tournament scene for a few years - have been really itching to get back into the release tournaments. The Oakley tournament was announced a few month's back and I was looking forward to fishing it. Well that was prior to getting about 40 inches of rain in a month and a...

Re: Help Picking out a Fly rod

How much you spend doesn't always mean your buying superior equipment. Weighting things from most important to least for reds and trout - casting ability, line, rod & reel. Warranty and price range for TFO rods and reels just about can't be beat. That is all I use - a TFO rod and reel in a 7 wt ...

After a long hard week of work and receiving some much needed rain - got a late invite on the Action craft by Action Craft Gator. Tides were off the charts and a new moon on top of that, the "catching" should be pretty easy. Slide the Action Craft into the basin around 1030 and headed to t...

Re: Powertech or Solas???

Powertech normally.....depends how your boat is handling with the current prop. Like shoes you have to get the right size or you aren't going to like the feel & performance

Re: Losing more recreation to the government

Well if you look at any govt map of the said areas they already say restricted. You can't fish Crooked Island Sound when they are launching drones....there are areas outshone of PC that are off limits at times unless you want to become a target. That said I saw the Facebook talk...other than that is...

Re: Taping your reel seats...

Maybe I'm odd... But I hold all my spinning rods at the fore grip. You can't feel anything with your hand that far back. This is my most recent rod I built...I intentionally leave a gap so my index finger extends down the blank. Note no fore grip on this rod....I can feel fish thinking about hitting...

Nick's Redfish Roundup - 05/11/13

Spent a couple weeks prepping for this tournament - fishing just about every good spot in the St. Andrews bay. Burning copious quantities of gas and optimax oil. My past reports are from those trips, maybe a few missing, seems time comes at a premium price these days. Did prefish for a few hours Fri...
