Re: bass lures in saltwater?

I fished the Guana impoundment south of Ponte Vedra to try out a new to me kayak and all I had on board was my spinner with a Devil's Horse tied on from a recent trip to Lake Carr. Wow! I had explosive action from the biggest trout I had ever caught. Of course the hooks rusted off within two weeks! ...

Re: Where is Mud Cove?

Mud cove is the area West of the South Shoal on the inshore side of the big sandbar that runs out south from Alligator Point all the way to the shoal (Marker 26 protects boats from the southern edge of the shoal). It can be said to continue as far west as the KOA to the large sandbar that runs south...

Bound to be happy with that one - Cape Horn builds a sturdy, practical boat and the 17' is excellent for our coast.

Re: bomb holes in the 'spits' off turkey/alligator point

The whole coast was littered with landing mats and .50 cal bullets and casings when I was a child, also found dummy mortar rounds. The beaches were used as practice for the Normandy invasion. If I recall correctly Camp Weed was the headquarters for the training facility, and the "parade grounds...

Re: Talon vs Power Pole

Don't know about a Talon, but when I looked at a Power Pole it was very pricey, and the remote was extra on top of the pricey!!! I got a Wang Anchor that works real well for under $200. Quick, quiet, and easy to deploy when I'm in an area that I want to "Hang Out With My Wang Out!" ....

As if we won't acknowledge it - both schools are STATE run institutions! Both schools have to respond to mandates for which academic disciplines they offer - and both schools have excellent reputations within the premier colleges in their programs. Re: Freshwater Tackle Top Pics...

All great choices guys - mostly I make my decision based on the cover I'm fishing. A Rapala just doesen't work in lilly pads  ! Just like in the salt I can't pass up the thrill of a big topwater strike so if the conditions permit I tie on a Devil's Horse and get my adrenaline pump on standby!

Re: smoke duck recipe

After you smoke for a bit (not all the way done) bone it out, cut it up (you can leave the legs whole) and add it to a sausage gumbo (dark roux, pepprs, onions, celery. good spicy sausage, shrimp stock, plenty of black pepper) simmer until it gets real tender!!! Yum!
