Re: when you'er over seventy who cares
Earl, I am on standby for a fishing trip with you anytime. I still have fond memories of our trips to Econfina, St Marks, and East Bay. We showed 'em no mercy. I wish I had video of you talking those fish onto your home-made topwater plugs. That was a sight to behold. D http://img.photobucket.com/al...

Re: when you'er over seventy who cares
Hang in there Earl. Thought I'd let you know that rose bush you gave me our last fishing trip is thriving. The old lady harvests some pretty red roses off that bush.

Re: Kudos to Shields Marina
I hope you like that Suzi Rick. I sure have had good luck with the three that I have had. And as for your comments about Shields, there is a certain Dothan boat dealership that could certainly take some lessons from Shields. And you know who I mean. And if you need service in a hurry and can't get i...

Nice looking red.
And Earl I haven't fished the PC area this fall, deciding instead to concentrate all my attention on the Apalachicola area, but I have gotten reports from a couple of guys that say the bite over around PC is down from what it had been.

Re: SGI or Crystal River.
At Apalachicola the river is up (12'), the wind has been blowin' hard out of the NNE, and the trout bite is off.

Re: Trout Question
There are several of us that regularly fish the Apalachicola area and we are of the opinion that the trout catch has dropped off considerably in the last couple of years. There are exceptional days but the catch at certain spots is not as consistent as it used to be. Add me to the list of those that...

Re: Airboating to be banned in the everglades
Airboats are an especially noisy affront to the enjoyment of our wetlands. Especially when I am on a good trout bite in the Apalachicola area and one roars by not far away loaded with tourists

Re: Seagrass Loss at Econfina
When I first started fishing the upper bay at Apalachicola there were thick masses of turtle grass all along the shores of the upper bay out from the mouths of Doyle, Whiskey George, and Cash Creeks. Then beginning around 1983 it began dying off and it has not come back. In that area we would catch ...

Re: Another boat mechanic question- Suzuki in SW GA or FL?
Joe's Motor Service in Hartford, AL, (west of Dothan about 25 miles) is excellent. They are a full service Suzuki and Key West dealer. I have been letting them do my Suzuki service for the last thirteen years.

No I didn't climb a tree but it looks like it. We were staying out on SGI and I shot the pic from one of the decks.

Re: Need boat buying advice
I had a 19/7 KW Bay/Reef for 10 years. Last year I went to the KW 19/7 SKIFF. Set it up with an Atlas jack plate, Lenco Trim Tabs, and I love it. It gets me as shallow as I need to go in the FL Panhandle waters that I fish from Apalachicola to Panama City. I have fore and aft pedestal seats and a ca...

Re: GPS and depth finder combo
I have been using the Lowrance Elite 7HDI. i was a Garmin user for many years but the larger screen and other features won me over to this Lowrance unit.
This link takes you to a site has a lot of info on both Garmin and Lowrance units.
