Re: fishing in claudette 8/16 Keaton Beach
Good job getting 'em! We were down for the weekend and did the scalloping thing Saturday. Gave it a quick try Sunday morning, but decided to call it quits about 9:30. Once we got the boat loaded and the house cleaned, the weather actually looked better than we decided to head in. Obviously, looks ca...

Re: Saint Marks Trout 8/15/09
Thanks for the report. I have been fishing over at Lanark and Keaton more this summer whereas in previous years, 99% of my fishing was at St. Marks. I told my family just yesterday that I am ready to give St. Marks a try again.

Keaton 8/15-16/09
Spent the weekend at Keaton. Me and my 9 yr old son headed out at daylight Sat morning before the girls got up. Had a lot of pinfish bites on the gulps, but no trout. Headed back in about 8:30 to pick up the girls and give the scalloping a try. Scalloped south of Big Grass Island with all of the oth...

Coast Guard
While fishing yesterday, I heard a CG report of a capsized vessel which I think memory tells me was a 24' white vessel. Coordinates were latitude 29 something and longitude 84 something -- I know that is vague, but going from memory. I heard the call once and never heard back anything on it. Did any...

Lanark Village
Went to Lanark today and caught a couple of trout, a blue fish and a white trout (keepers). Also a couple of sharks, ladyfish, rockbass (the usual nonkeepers). Dodged thunderstorms early and also midmorning. Wind was much stronger than predicted.

Re: Chum Churn?
Easy alternative is just to buy a frozen chum block and tie it off to the stern in a bag.
I tried that before -- one very important procedure to remember when using a chum bag is to retrieve before running with the outboard. Maybe you can figure out what I might be referring to here.

Re: Chum Churn?
I like mine. probably need to be anchored to be most effective so you stay with the chum slick. Ladyfish are by far the best material for a chum churn.

The ramp was not crowded too bad. We parked in the boat club parking lot next door without any problem.
Did not notice any scallops.
