Re: Good place to beach the boat?

We put in at Lanark for the first time yesterday and noticed the north end of Dog Island to be a good looking spot and there were just a few folks there. In addition, we rode to the other end of Dog Island to the pass between it and Little St. George. We headed through the pass and trolled for some ...

Lanark Village - 6/27

Put in at Lanark this morning about 8:30 and headed to Dog Island Reef. Reef was covered in Spanish. We were trying trout on gulps under CT and kept getting cut off. We could see the spanish coming by the boat. Eventually switched to some spoons and gotchas with wire leaders. It was our first trip t...

Re: SGI

plan to be near dog island reef on saturday. will try to post a report with any results. my personal opinion is to stay away from st. marks -- i have not been having luck there recently. Thus my move southwest.

Apparently the oddball in the bunch, but I have a 90 optimax and have been happy with it. Great fuel mileage and a very quite motor.

Re: Carrablelle

EJ thanks a lot for the detailed info. I have also been talking with some friends who fish that area occasionally and getting similar reports on the trout from dog island. Thanks again and I hope to be posting a report this weekend.

Is Dog Island Reef an actual man made reef? What is typically caught there? Thanks again.

Carrablelle

Can someone give me some info on fishing out of Carrabelle? I have a 19' boat and mostly fish out of St. Marks and Keaton. Occasionally, I fish out of Pensacola or Mexico Beach trolling for kings. Being in southwest Georgia, I was curious about Carrabelle for nearshore fishing (i.e., primarily kings...

keep an eye out for rocks. if you have a top spots map, look for rock garden -- good fishing but rocky.

Our best luck came on green dusters. we did catch one fish and had one other strike on blue/silver. about three weeks ago, purple seemed to be the ticket.

Kids fishing tournament question

What is a good inshore/nearshore fishing tournament with a kids division in our area?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Mexico Beach 6/14

Headed over to MB for the weekend. Only caught one king on Saturday and then spent the day at the beach, pool, etc. While at the condo on Saturday, a gentlemen was leaving and gave me some tips on duster colors and location. Had much better luck on Sunday - caught four kings (one 34" and one 37...
