Being on the flats at night is fun in itself when you're just hanging out with friends and seeing what all is out there. The flats can come alive at night when it might have been slow all day.
Did you guys happen to see any flounder?

Re: St. Marks Thu and Fri
I was flounder gigging last night and had one about 6-7 ft. come check the boat out in about 2 ft. of water. I bet if some people knew what was around when they were scalloping it would make launching on the weekends much nicer!!!

Re: Good place to beach the boat?
The cove Dubble talked about is where I go. It's on the opposite end of the island as the reef but closer to the pass between DI and SGI. I've ran over there in a 26' Contender and a 17' Bass Tracker. No matter what boat you have, you can easily get stuck on a low tide in that area so just watch out...
Re: flounder
Haven't tried the shoals but the shallow reefs are full of them, so are the flats at night. They like steel though, not bait.

Re: Late evening luck?
It was pretty rough out there. I fished some of the oyster bars and got a couple small hits on topwater and landed a undersized red. The weather made it pretty tough to work any areas though.

I'll let you know, I think I'm gonna head to Shell Point later today and try to get some reds in the boat.

Re: Fishermen lost in Appalachicola River
I know I'm bad about it but this is where wearing the kill switch could've made this end up more positive. You never know when you could hit something and get tossed outta the boat.

Re: Mexico Beach Kings
sounds like a fun weekend. How far out is the bouy line? I'm guessing it just runs right off the beach out of an inlet or pass? I have a smaller boat and might head over that way on when the wind cooperates.

Re: Where to freedive/spearfish?
I freedove spots 16-20 ft. and got some flounder this past weekend. The water clarity is getting much better and the water was pretty warm. I have a hawaiian sling also. I fished Dog Ballard and didn't get a thing, but did mark some new spots out there. I have a 17' Tracker and have only run past th...

Re: St. Marks (Photo intense)
Man I feel bad for those guys. When was this? I saw them out there last Saturday having troubles with the truck at the ramp and a tow truck was pulling up to help them.
