Re: Has anyone ever caught a cobia on fly
I've had good success catching them on my 9wt. using a 7 inch black eel like pattern. It’s seems to work better it you spray a little Gulp juice. When I first started targeting them they would just follow the fly and only eat it about 10 to 20 percent of the time. After spraying the fly with the shr...

One-Step Headlight Restoration kit made by Meguiar's. I got it at Walmart a couple years ago for around $10 in the automotive section.

Re: Quantum Cabo bait caster question
As far as bait casters go I have two Abu Garcia and two Shimano Calcutta and an old G Loomis that is used for bass fishing on a rare occasion. On all models the level wind moves back and forth when casting and each one will cast a hell of a long ways. The reason for the original question was due to ...

Quantum Cabo bait caster question
I purchased one recently and noticed when it is in free spool (casting) the level wind doesn’t go back and forth. It works when you reel but not when you cast. Do any of you have one? Just trying to figure out if mine is messed up or if that is the way it's suppose to be. I hope it is messed up beca...

Re: Where are the grouper????
As an FYI, a few friends and I dove a spot in 45 feet of water on Sunday. It was just N of the K. We saw around 40 keeper size grouper. Didn't see the first red snapper though.

3 reports in one.
Took my dad out Sat the 9th to see what we could get into. Our plan was to see if any kings were around and maybe spend some time trying for grouper. I figured snapper was out because all the reports I’ve read tend to say they are out past the 80’ mark. Out of Mashes Sands this is a 30 mile run and ...

CSB recommendation
Heading down to Cape San Blas next week and was going to bring a few tanks along. Since I haven’t dove this area before I was hoping someone could give me a recommendation. Would like to stay 80 feet or less. I looked at a list of artifical reefs and they had one place listed as Box cars. I assume t...

Re: Grouper vs. Snapper set-ups
Cut bait and squid works fine for snapper. Regarding tackle I personally use 30lb braid with a 40lb floro carbon leader. Grouper are generally on the bottom while snapper tend to hang up higher. Your depth recorders should be able to give you a good idea to the exact depth. If not your in the wrong ...

Sunday out of St Marks.
Got down to the fort around 8am. The weather was great, seas less than a foot and the temp was around 80 degrees. My plan was to head out to my farthest point after picking up bait and then start working my way back. Stopped off at the Sholes for bait which didn’t take long? I think only one cast wi...

Thanks for the advise guys! I like that underwater light idea.
Do you go on a high tide / low tide or does it really matter?

Flounder Gigging question.
Me and a buddy of mine wanted to start doing some flounder gigging. Since we have only done it a few times I was hope to hear some advice from the experts. We have a wide, 15 foot john boat that is used for gator hunting. Currently it has two mid size fog lights on the front. Should I have more? Sho...
