Palm Valley neighborhood hog problem

Just a fun post: Saturday afternoon I received a couple of texts from neighbors who had a pressing hog problem. The night before hogs tore up their yards and they were looking for help & advice. Their property is adjacent to some wetlands and for the last week I’ve noticed a sounder of hogs arou...

Thanks a lot Futchcairo. Thanks too for sharing you river raft trip! It sounds like it was one to remember! Certainly more rustic than we do now a days (with plastic & aluminum canoes, etc). You obviously impacted a lot of young men's lives! That makes a man feel good about the future. Hoo Yah! ...

Re: Troop 277 Boy Scout scalloping & fishing campout: Steinh

When I was scouting, it always seemed like the bigger kids picked on the smaller kids, and it wasn't as much fun. That is a BIG problem for sure. Having dealt with that back when I was a scout I look out for that. As do the other involved dads. I can tell you our Troop Discipline Committee does get...

Troop 277 Boy Scout scalloping & fishing campout: Steinhatch

This is a photo summary of this my son's past weekend’s Troop 277 campout. Ya gotta love an organization like Scouting for today’s youth to try new adventures, push boundaries beyond their comfort zone, learn how to lead others, be able to make mistakes in a safe forgiving environment & overall ...

Re: Grand Cay Bahamas: LaborDay divin, fishin, spearin & con

Thanks for the nice comments. What do you do with all those conch shells after you've evicted the critters and turned them into something scrumptious? Our home is a Key West style home and we position the cleaned shells on the outside steps as you approach the front door (pink side facing out). Brian

Grand Cay Bahamas: LaborDay divin, fishin, spearin & conchin

My son Casey & I were invited to a Labor Day weekend Father/Son dive trip to Grand Cay in the Abacos to do some diving. We’d have to pull the boys from school on Friday which oddly…..met with no resistance from them. We would be crossing over from Stuart with an ole Gainesville friend Mark Robin...

Canadian black bears: father n’ daughter archery adventure

Planning for my daughter’s black bear hunt started back in 2012 after I took my then 13 year old son Casey on a Canadian Spring time black bear archery hunt. On the last day of our 5 day hunt with 2 hours of light remaining a bear finally came in that we deemed a shooter and Casey got his first bear...

Re: Cedar Key offshore: King & grouper 4/18 15

In the event that someone would like to try this …. The 3rd photo is all the meat from the head. The photo doesn’t really convey how much there was. The meat had a very nice flavor and tasted a bit sweeter but that’s probably on account of the method of stewing/seasoning and that the smaller pieces ...
