Re: Where have all the oysters gone?
NONE scientiific ---- NONE political---- Hands on story concerning fish killing pollution. About 35 years ago, long before GPS units were available for our fishing boats, i fished with a work buddy back in the Everglades. Every once in a while he would take me back in an area where the fresh water po...

Re: Exceeding A Boats H.P. Rating ?
Thanks for all the comments, and many i will consider, and a point i was wondering about was pull starting a 20 H.P. motor?? Years ago i had a 16 foot aluminum vee bottom boat with a 25 H.P. two stroke Merc, never felt like it was hard to pull??? I can just barely get up on a plane with two people i...

Re: Exceeding A Boats H.P. Rating ?
The way the boat is outfitted - casting deck, trolling motor/battery,gear equates to an extra person, and like i said, it's performance with just me is fine -- about 18 MPH cruising. But i would like to have the ability to take a second person, and run about the same. Thats my intentions....

Re: Exceeding A Boats H.P. Rating ?
Width is 65 inches and the transon at centerline is 15 inches off the keel. Dealer recommends electric start if i go with a twenty H.P.. Say's the 20 H.P. will be too hard to pull?? The total weight difference between the 9.9 H.P. and the twenty is only 19 pounds. Thanks Again for the info.....

Exceeding A Boats H.P. Rating ?
I have a 14.7 G-3 Aluminum skiff, rated maximum H.P. is 15 H.P.. It has a 9.9 Four Stroke Merc on it now. With the gear i carry, fishing strickly inshore points and rivers, this engine is just enough to get up on a plane and "plane out" around 18 MPH. If i carry a second passanger, the per...

Re: Culling fish
There is a reason for this law, any fish has a whole lot better chance at servival, if released directly after being caught. Just because a fish swims away after being held in a live well, doesn't mean it will servive. Any fish i decide to keep, goes directly into my cooler, and any fish i keep, i e...

Re: Shimano Calcutta 201b / St Croix Triumph 7' M ($150)
"Normal operating proceedure" for right handed people using plug casting rods is to cast with the right hand and wind the reel with the left hand -- same as spinning tackle. I have three of these Calcuttas, over ten years old, and they have never been in the shop. They take a lot of abuse....
