Re: fire pit
It's vastly different than what you are inquiring about but where I come from we use an old tractor rim. Just laid on the ground. It works nicely.

Re: Scalloping reports???
Went to Hogens cove waded out what seemed to be two miles but probably closer to one and found a few (25)scallops. We were about 300 yards from the boats and the guys I talked to said their were tons out where they were. We got their late and it was high tide so we just couldn't get out their. Baref...

Re: Penn battle 4000
I just missed two penn 4000 battle reels on ebay. They sold for about $96 for the pair. And came from north Arkansas so it was a good chance they have never seen the salt water. There is an online store I believe it's called boaters supply. They sell there reels about $25 cheaper than bass pro.

I pulled two out this evening on the falling tide. I used sand fleas just east of the second bath house in the park at SGI.

Re: Which beach to surf fish at night from?
Lights attract bugs you will be sitting there enjoying life and the next thing you know your fightng for it. Wind and dark are your friends. The sea turtles are also coming in to lay now so they ask you to not have lights on the beach at night. If you go on a full moon you won't need lights other wi...

Re: Which beach to surf fish at night from?
I fish in the park and have a pass so I can stay as late as I want. I only fish in the park so that's all I can speak to. I have caught reds, whiting, pompano and cats. I learn more about it every time I go. I am going to try ghost crabs next time and see what happens. I have noticed larger fish aft...

Re: Which beach to surf fish at night from?
I fish SGI a lot and have found that the tide plays a big role. I have an east end pass if you want to try it out. I do fish at night a lot on SGI mostly because that happens to be the low tide when I get to go. Keep the lights of and the bugs aren't to bad.

Re: Newbie needs advice surf casting gear
I use 20# power pro braid it is good for the surf but not for throwing a lure on the flats. It is way more than you need but when you hook a 60# drum you stand a good chance of landing it. I personally would take the reel off carry it in the basspro (of course check it at the door) and let them spoo...

Re: Newbie needs advice surf casting gear
Sams in tally has a Penn battle 4000 on 7' rod $99. It's not ten foot but it is a deal. I fish the same conditions on SGI with a Penn battle 3000 on a 7' rod and with a 3 oz pyramid weight I get all the distance I need. Too put that much 20# line it will have to be braid. The Penn has a rubber grip ...
