Re: Typical start to snapper season
Z load, I enjoy your posts. Try watching Windcast on the internet It's found at Intellicast.com. It's a marine wind forecast for the upcoming 48 hrs. It's very accurate 80% of the time....... for the next 24hrs. It's the best I've seen to date. If you check it daily and then look at the "Real D...

Re: Keaton 5.9
Gonna be a few years before much of the Big Bend recovers from last Sept's Red Tide. Lots of fish and other marine life disappeared with that out break. Those types of incidents take years to recovery from. Expect some tighter fishing regs due to mother natures cruel trick. I suspect some folks will...

Re: Cedar Key offshore: King & grouper 4/18 15
Nice post, good to see last year's Red Tide did not wipe out those grouper. Big 1-3lb grunts are always a good sign that grouper are also there. Drop any kind of livee.... squirrel fish, slippery dick, live blue runner, pin/pig fish, spot tail, etc FWC will frown on using 6-10" sea bass...... b...

Capt, I know a little of what you speak. Those memories include fish, fisherman, and lessons learned. These days, it seems that "Makin Memories" have almost ground to halt! Good luck to you, calm seas, & tight tines. I'm still hoping to find a fella who wants to catch some nice off of ...

Re: tides for Indian Pass?
West Pass is within 6-7nm of Indian Pass. It's the first passage to the east of Indian Pass. Tides there would the same as Indian Pass. Good luck. PM me if you need another fisherman on board. I also have a heck of a lot #s offshore of Indian Pass..... these days no boat.

Re: Mexico Beach/Port St Joe - NADA
Zload, sorry the fishin & weather were poor. I have finally found a couple of fishing buds down at Mexico Bch & Indian Pass. Flounder are now around those MBARA trash piles in 50-65 ft, He has a tri hull, I'm waiting for super calm weather. Today may have been great, but I said "No than...

Re: Saturday to Forget
Mud ducker, hate to hear all that. Sadly, I've heard some similar tales this past 24mos. I have thought hard about buying another boat, now that these Golden Years have arrived. Seems a lot has changed this past 20yrs. My bones for one!
Good luck next go round.

Re: Plan B: Short Cedar Key grouper trip: 11/13
Did you notice any foul odor when you cleaned any of those fish? No strong foul odor would be a great sign that the effects of September's Red Tide are over with. By now, the crabs should be full, fat, & happy............ from eating rotting fish. 65 degrees will certainly eliminate any further ...

Re: Steinhatchee 30-60ft
Yes, your report sounds like what my friend has seen at the marinas. My health has kept me grounded this past 4 days. He and I are reloading for Nov 6-10. We just want a box of fish, some salt air, and learn a little about his new trim tabs. Having lived there for 9yrs, I learned a great deal about ...

Re: Steinhatchee 30-60ft
I'll keep watching this thread. Not sure if my fishing buddy is there this evening (Fri 10/24). He may be thinking about arriving late this evening, then calling me tomorrow. He's retired and hopes to stay for about 6-7 days. Sometime after he arrives, he'll sniff up some news from a neighbor or the...

Re: Steinhatchee 30-60ft
Thanks fellas. I'll keep checking this post for a couple of days. The new moon is about now (tomorrow?) and that always "encourages" those bottom fish to feed in the daytime..... trout, too. Trout fishing seems to have NOT been affected by any "red tide issues. Those NE & ENE wind...

Steinhatchee 30-60ft
I have a friend who is wanting to try some of my numbers off of Steinhatchee. I'm over here north of Port Saint Joe.
1) Is the red tide affecting fishing in 30-60' off of Steinhatchee?
2) Has anyone caught a box of pink mouths, black sea bass, and a few grouper this past two weeks?
