Piney Z 7/19/13
We arrived at 1pm, to a hot, sunny day. Surface temps were in the low 80s and there was a small breeze from the north east for much of the day. You could feel the dog days of summer upon us, as we fished near the edge of the underwater finger on the south west side of the lake. We caught several dec...

Re: Lake Talquin (Stoutamire Landing) 7/10/13
Where about's are you guys finding the bream in the mornings at Talquin? We have days out there where we literally cannot find a single decent one over 7". I literally cannot put a summer pattern together for any species at Talquin. I feel like the fish in an area get up and move out to Goat is...

Lake Jackson (Millers Landing and Crowder rd)
We put in at Millers landing at 1:30pm hoping that the water would be up enough to launch easily. When we arrived we immediately noticed that the water was still 2-3ft short of full pool. We trolled out the boat trail, and were immediately greeted by water choked to the surface with weeds. Everywher...

Re: Lake Iamonia...anyone?
for Bass? Theyre out there, they should be suspending in the 20ft area of the lake during the middle of the day following the bait, and I'm sure there's some in the deep water pads and in the gator holes. The drops to 20ft from 15ft generally hold fish near the bottom and the humps in 20ft always se...

Re: Joe Budd Pond 7/13/13
Worms generally. Split pinks, or whole reds from local bait stores if we can help it. Walmart worms are up to 2 months old, and die and turn to dirt quickly. JBP is unique in that we were mainly dealing with Bull and coppernose BG, theyre old, and smart. We had to rotate between baits and presentati...

Re: Lake Talquin (Stoutamire Landing) 7/10/13
I have, no game fish live or in pieces on any passive device. Panfish may be used as bait on hook and line by the person who caught it. Black bass live or in pieces may not be used as bait at all.

Joe Budd Pond 7/13/13
We fished all day in search of big bream and the huge channel cats that are supposed to roam this pond. We used live 5" BG for bait and pitched to the bottom while we bream fished. We did get some hits, but nothing scooped the little guy up and ran the entire day. It was a slow day, the heavy r...

Lake Talquin (Stoutamire Landing) 7/10/13
We night fished for channel cats starting at 10. Normally we would run passive devices if we wanted filets, but we were in the mood for some easy action. We set out rods with chicken liver that had been thawed in the microwave, and after an hour with zero bites I knew something was wrong. I normally...

Piney Z Lake 7/10/13
We got to the ramp at 1pm and put in to hot weather and threatening skies about an hour away. Surface temps were in the low 90s and the wind was out of he north initially. The thermocline was about 2ft from the surface and almost everything with fins was suspended just below it while the sun was out...

JBP is electric only. We'll be out there saturday. Check the FWC link for rules and special regulations. It's at the bottom.

Re: Joe Budd Pond 7/6/13
Its crowded but theres tons and tons of fish. Everybody was catching all day. If you look up the pond its near high bluff landing on Talquin's north shore. Its northwest of the iron curtain. You need to punch in joe budd aquatic center in your gps.

Joe Budd Pond 7/6/13
Today was the grand opening of Joe budd pond in the Joe Budd WMA in Midway. I've never been, but I heard many good things about the place. If youve never been its quite an experience. Its a FWC Special FMA, thats stocked with tons of channel cats, all native sunfish species, LMB and Wipers aka sunsh...

Re: Piney Z Lake 7/4/13
I forgot how much bream fishing was too. I spent all last year on salt, spearing and flats fishing. This year has been most fun and cheapest year of fishing that's for sure

Re: Piney Z Lake 7/4/13
I'm getting better at it thats for sure. Its definitely a lot different and sometimes more difficult than saltwater and spearfishing. Impounded waters (large resevoirs like talquin) still confound me. The fish have sooo many places to go. Ive yet to establish a strong summer pattern for any species ...
