Back at o'l Icky

Wife and I went to Econfina today, put in at low tide and headed toward Aucilla. Not enough water to run in, found some 3-3.5 ft. water and got a couple big trout on plugs- catch jr. and redfin. Wife lost couple nice ones on a Yozuri plug. It's amazing how different an area looks on low tide- we flo...

Spadefish ain't too bad, they are usually small and like Seagurl said they are kinda like bream, even taste like them to me. Notorious baitstealers, though.

  Good job, Tod. They're out there, you just have to look around sometime. I'd rather have them bite slow all day than not bite at all. I bet the cobia pulled. :-D

Yeah, what's up with all this wind? It's been blow'in like crazy lately, even when the wind forecast is for smooth to light chop.
Wevans, sorry you had a bad day. Still beats work'in, though.

Econfina 4-7-04

Went to Econfina this mornin, didn't get to the ramp til 0930 'cause dummy me didn't set the clock right and overslept. Anyway, tide was low but we made it out without too much trouble, stopped near the mouth and caught a bunch of pinfish. Water started getting rough by then, stopped at a spo...

 Hey, sorry your trip didn't work out like ya planned. Those sea robins like you caught aren't good for much but maybe commercial cat food. We had a similar trip over at St. Joe Bay a few weeks ago- no bites at all. Isn't Destin more of an offshore type place? Not sure they have grass flats ove...

good report, BIG.
Your day Saturday sounded about like ours at Keaton. We got into some nice fish about 11 am but somehow got outa them and never could get the bite going again. Ended up with 3 big trout,1 flounder ,and a blue.
Sure was pretty out there, wasn't it?

RB,
Those girls are hav'in TOO MUCH FUN!!
If ya don't watch out, they'll keep out-fish'in ya.
My daughter used to like to fish with me like that, so believe me when I say enjoy it while you can. Once the young men come call'in, their fishing days are numbered. Glad you all had a good day on the water.

Tod,
IF you like fishing the Econfina area, try going to Rock Island. You have to ride about 6 miles, but it should be better fish'in. The area before you get to the island has been good in the past.

 Yeah, Chalk. That same friend that likes to give fish away was there Friday and tried to give us 2 more fish over 22''. We just said ''Nossir''and kept fish'in. I'd rather catch my own anyway.
It sounds like things are getting good down Keaton way.
