Re: St. Marks Reef

Thanks Bman. Might give that a shot if it's not fairly flat seas. Might do a little bottom fishing and free line a pin fish or two. Hope the rain holds off.

St. Marks Reef

The inshore fishing has been so "off" lately at St. Marks, I'm thinking about making a run to St. Marks reef on Monday and troll some Clark spoons for Spanish. Anybody been out there lately OR any other suggestions for a good place to troll thats a fairly short run from the Lighthouse?

Re: Rock garden report 5-12

We moved from the rocks to the grass (just west of the rocks) and tried it there for about an hour) 10:00 ish to 11:00 with very little activity. Might have been the tide. It was high tide. Very clear water at about 4 feet. Water so glassy that is seemed hazy. Huge swarms of bait fish moving all aro...

Rock garden report 5-12

My beautiful bride (Realtor) recently closed a deal with bman and I promised her a fishing trip as a reward. We floated the boat at the lighthouse at sunrise and ran strait out to the rocks. 3 dozen live shrimp in the live well, bucket of gulp (all assorted coolers and configurations) and a baggie o...

Re: Fish ID?

Fished the rock garden this morning and caught several of these ugly suckers. Good fight though. When the come out of the water, they pant like a dog! Very strange.

Re: Deep hole east of the rock garden

OK JT, I don't want to encroach on any of your territory. Send me your numbers and Ill put in the Garmin with a proximity alert to make sure I don't get to close! You can trust me. I was an Army Recruiter!!!!!!

Re: Deep hole east of the rock garden

Got the Top Spot Maps, location of the rocks and Google Earth but haven't been able to find it. Not sure I want to ask how much the cost to access JT's (fishing) holes mighty be! Im sure if I putter around out there long enough, Ill figure it out.

Fun Birthday morning on the flats

Launched the boat from the light house this morning at daylight. Ran east about a half mile from the light house in front of the cell tower. light breeze and calm seas. Threw a shrimp on the hook under a popping cork and threw it out. Before I could get the second rod rigged, got the first bite. Got...

Re: St Marks NWR - 26 April 2015

Gonna make an early boring run at it this morning and see what happens. Weather report looks good. Haven't been doing much on the flats lately but trash fish but still nice to be out there.

Re: The downside to "year-round boating"....

Saw a break in the clouds this morning on the radar. Weather Underground said 2 foot waves "OR LESS" with winds at 10 knots. Hooked up the old 16' tracker to the truck and made a mad dash for the lighthouse. Noticed on the long stretch towards the ramp after turning off 98 that the tree to...

Re: St. Marks Flats 4-13

I usually stop at the Sunoco station/lumber yard on Woodville Highway. It's on the way for me. If they don't have any (about half the time) I stop at Jerry's further south on the Woodville Highway.

St. Marks Flats 4-13

Had the boat in the water just before 7:00 this AM. Ran out to the east flats. Didn't have long to fish with the winds picking up and rain on the radar. Floating live shrimp under a popping cork in 3-4 feet of water. Picked up 3 trout. 1 short, 1 BLT ( barely legal trout) and one gator trout just sh...
