Re: Ochlockonee Bay, Alligator Point, and Bald Point 2018 Fi

Not unusual to see tarpon when water temp get this high. Most of the rivers in NW Florida have resident tarpon that spend the winter in springs and deep holes. Here in the Apalachicola area I can show tarpon all winter! Hard to get them play, but still fun to watch.

Re: St Joes Bay/ Apalachicola Bay Help

Rather than go all the way to SGI, I'd launch at Indian Pass and fish the oyster bars to the north and west of the ramp. Pull it up on Google Earth and take a look.

Where's it broken? You can sleeve them, but the action not the same.

Take it back where you bought it. The dealer will usually help you ship it back.

Re: Need opinions on baitcasting reels

I tried left hand retrieve bait casters 30 years ago and they did not feel right to me. I don't understand why, because I retrieve spinning and fly reels left handed.

Re: Need opinions on baitcasting reels

Get another one just like he has. I have a mix of curados & chronarchs and for the money you can't beat the curados. I've got a couple of 300 series curados that have survived customers using them on tarpon for the last 10 years. The reels I use personally for bass, trout & reds are 200 seri...

Re: Rapala Saltwater X-Rap Series

BBs work....Rat-L-Traps have been one of my go to baits for 30-40 years. I particularly like them in stained water. The floating saltwater models are deadly on the flats. I like to burn them , then pause and let them back up. Trout can't stand it!

Can't speak to DI, but on the Apalach side the guides are bringing in 50+ boxes daily. I can't help, because I don't do them this time of the year.

Dave, the next time you're down this way, check 13 Mile on Water St. I think they are carrying them or eat at Tamara's. Danny usuall has them on the menu. Yes, they are tasty.

Re: Idenify Gude

This is the worst influx of "carpet baggers" yet. We have tower boats running aground and flats boats with 5' tall casting platforms on them. Probably 4 or 5 to 1 ratio of outsiders to locals on the tarpon grounds. It reminds me of the scene in Jaws, when all the "fishermen" are ...
