The livewell probably isnt sealed around the top and some gets in the bilge around the top

It may just be me then it just seems like the mouth of the creek used to have more water at low tide around the PVC markers and out to the rack.

You could buy a baofeng and unlock it, there's 8w models of those that you can add Nagoya antennas too to boost the range. If you want to know how to do it without Tapatalk it's doable you just need to use bbcode to post them so it's a little more complicated.
