Re: Garmin 74sv with clearvu or lowrance with downview

Hey there ya go. I guess I'm just now learning what's what in the different transducers and what's available. Not sure difference between say the 51 and 52. I'll research that. I'm not interested in the complete touch screen of the simrad go. I know from trying to use my navionics on my iphone it ai...

Re: Garmin 74sv with clearvu or lowrance with downview

Alright. New question. Not sure if I just can't get the GT model transducer or if my guy isnt willing to look for it. But my salesman said we could look at simrad. Y'all got any experience with simrad?

Garmin 74sv with clearvu or lowrance with downview

This may be the wrong section for this. I'm getting a new unit. Garmin 74sv with GT41-TM transducer. Now that I've been reading a lot more about their clearvu and the problems they ran into with their downscan transducers(patent infringement or something) I'm thinking I made a mistake. Apparently th...

St marks east flats 4/4

Took the fam down to st marks for the first fam spring trip. Launched at the fort around 930 and by the time we made our run to the mouth of the river, my crew was so cold I had to turn around and take them back to the car to thaw out. Air temp was around 47. I dinked around in the river till maybe ...

Re: Trying to learn the creeks

Thanks for the info SG. Finding the channel I think is the challenge for the first time in an area. For me anyway. Made me a bit nervous trying to find that sweet spot to enter. I'm paranoid about finding one of those rocks I hear y'all talk about!

Trying to learn the creeks

A friend and I took our boys down to st marks today to take advantage of the big tide and try to learn how to do some creek fishing. I've been reading how you professionals are racking up in creek mouths and wanted to give it a try. Got to the fort around 1130 and dumped the boat in. Ran down and ou...

Re: St joe bay 8/4-8/9

Hey redbelly, I was still fishing wed am :) so I think I missed him! Hope y'all did well on the scallops. Silver king, those are the pics I've been looking at. Hard to remember now. I don't remember it having a prominent forehead as the African pompano shows. Don't think it had as large a mouth as t...

My bad not like a Spanish. The hard bony nodules were on the lateral of the tail.

Re: St joe bay 8/4-8/9

It was definitely a fun trip. We tried all colors of gulp, some under corks, some just on jigheads. Fished all depths 3-10 feet. Even used bull minnows and pinfish in same fashion. Nada on the trout. I did not get a pic of the African pompano. I know it sounds crazy and honestly if I had the id wron...

St joe bay 8/4-8/9

So we went to the cape for an end of summer fishing, scalloping, beach trip. But of course the algae bloom nixed the scalloping. So we fished pretty hard for trout and your other normal flats fish but absolutely no luck. But We were able to boat 7 different species though. And the kids had a blast s...

Headed to San blas

Alright boys. Headed to the cape this coming fri for an end of summer fishing and beach trip fri -wed. My wife wants to catch a flounder, really really bad. Any specifics that I need to try other than dragging a jig head through the sand patches or using bull minnows on the bottom in the sand. More ...
