Steinhatchee 6/29
Fished from Noon to 5pm north of the river. It was hot and the bite was slow. After an hour or so of searching, we found some fish in 8ft of water right off the flats edge. Caught 5 keepers and a fat 22" that we threw back. Trout were caught on live pinfish and various soft plastics on a 3/8 oz...

Re: Scalloping sat??
Let me know how you do. I'll be heading down there Friday and Saturday (29th and 30th), mainly to fish, but I'm sure we'll partake in scalloping too.doomtrpr_z71 wrote:Hopefully its as good as Facebook makes it out to be, I'll be at steinhatchee Sunday-tue

Any idea what the water temp was? Didn't think they'd be in that deep of water already.

That's a lot of $$$$ for a fish, but I bet a lot more $$$$ are spent in pursuit of said fish

Re: Pinfish trap
http://catchlivebait.com/ Hands down the best trap I've ever used. I bought the offshore model. I put a zip tie across the openings to adjust the size of bait for inshore use. Ditto. I have two offshore models. Zip tied the openings to keep the larger pinfish and rock bass out. They work phenomenal...

Re: Catching trout gotten harder?
I've yet to catch a trout bigger than a 23" out of Steinhatchee and I've fished out there a LOT over the past two years. I thought I just wasn't jigging it right . Lots of 20"-23" though.

≈ $50 Penn Fierce / Berkley Inshore Rod
≈ $100 Penn Battle II / St Croix Mojo Inshore
≈ $200 Penn Clash / St Croix Avid Series (Anything above this and you're getting minimal gains for your money IMO)
≈ $300 Wouldn't know

Re: Who uses a casting platform?
Thanks again for the advice guys. I just ordered a low profile cooler tie down kit and a cooler pad from USATuff.

Re: Who uses a casting platform?
If I get a low profile cooler tie down kit and mount my 65 qt RTIC to the front deck, will it cause any issues while on plane? I think it might actually help, given that my boat is seriously stern heavy.

Re: Who uses a casting platform?
Have never heard that ratio but height definitely has its advantages for seeing down into the water. Greater angle lessens the glare. Polarized sunglasses with the correct lenses help (copper or amber for the shallows, gray for offshore). I've had two custom platforms built for my last two boats. N...
