Re: Must have fishing accessories

Cast net. Magical dimensions for obtaining 4 inch mudminnows (aka candy for reds & trout) in St Marks Refuge: 7 foot, 1/2" mesh, 3/4lb weight per radius foot. Almost impossible to find that size/spec net locally. I hafta order mine online. I'm not a big net guy but the one I throw is 7 foo...

Re: grass

I like to throw corks. I'm not sure why you say that is a no go, corks will catch most of the grass not your bait. Like said above just deal the best you can. Work your bait very slowed across the bottom.

Re: Lanark 6/24

Yuck. I've been fishing exclusively Keaton/Steinhatchee area for the past month with the early scallop season but I get antsy if I fish one place too long, I like to change it up. Was thinking about trailering over to St Marks for a couple days but I guess I'll give it a week or two.

Re: Scallop Season

This early in the season they will be small and less plentiful. I have no idea what the State is doing opening the season before they need to. But then again when it comes to our fishery management, the "powers that be" appear clueless anyway. I was told by FWC that the change was request...

Re: scallop report st marks

I have been on the other side of the bay for the last couple weeks but I've heard people have seen them. That was before the rain though. It doesn't take long for the water to clear up and you still have 10 or so days. You never know. As far as Keaton and Steinhatchee go there are some scallops in t...

Re: Angler Ethics?

My biggest pet peeves of many from this weekend is that A diver flag is not a fixed object, it serves a purpose and is meant to be raised when divers are in the water and lowered when making way. Some people never take it down. Some guy had a huge American flag and another flag on either side of his...

Re: Angler Ethics?

I can truly relate to this post. I'm not an offshore guy but just the part about being on the water and brushing things off. I try to take everything in stride and am better than I use to be but man sometimes someone or something can just get under your skin.

Re: Scallop Season

Did you go? We did not do well at Keaton. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk They did better further south around pepperfish. I got in some but they were almost to dallus creek and not very thick, had to put in some swim time for a good mess unlike last couple years. I'm sure they'll move in better...

Re: Only a few more weeks.

Jinxed myself only caught two this morning but it was rough as a cobb out there and I gave up pretty easy. Did find some shallow water scallops though. They are not thick yet like the past couple of years.

Re: Only a few more weeks.

saw your IG. Some nice trout! What depth did you find those in? About 9-10 foot. Those were just when I had my phone in my pocket and not playing music. I probably caught 15 keeper sized and three over twenty in a few hours, I've had the same little area of water producing like crazy for two weeks....

Re: Only a few more weeks.

Sorry MD. Honestly it wasn't bad out today, but it could all change tomorrow. I believe it will be tamer with the season moved up and not so close to the 4th. Saturday will be busy but I was just riding around an hour ago and there is not the evening push of boats like you usually see. Scallops are ...
