Re: Need some help

Gold spoon is another stable for picking up reds and trouts in that area. Couldn't be easier just fan cast everywhere. Also be 100% sure that you're trolling your baits behind the yak as you move from spot to spot, you'll pick up half your fish that way! Just toss them back, set your drag light and ...

Good point! I'm currently learning "offshore" as in anything beyond kayak range. Thanks for the details, very helpful to someone like me!

Re: Opening Day For Grouper Season

Good job! We went out of St. Mark's and it was too rough for us to go to Dog Ballard as we had hoped, ended up at Wakulla... tried to go to Dog Ballard again, still too rough, ended the day for an hour or so at St. Mark's reef... Pardon the ignorance here, I'm still learning "offshore"......

Re: Navigating Ochlockonee/Mashes Sands to open water?

Yeah I just had SonarCharts turned off for the sake of clutter when making my little diagram. I was actually having a problem with my Navionics chip out on the water and couldn't get it to load (didn't think about pulling it up on my phone) which is why I ultimately decided to take the advice and fo...

Navigating Ochlockonee/Mashes Sands to open water?

Put my 19ft Mako in at Mashes Sands on Saturday, my first time launching anywhere other than the Fort since I bought the boat (my first) a few months back. I'm very familiar with the area from shore but not at all on the water. It was a low tide around 8am and I was a bit skeptical about there being...

Re: Saint George Is

If wind out of the north, troughs along the beach are productive too. Maybe some early pompano appearing as well. Can you explain what effect the wind has on the productivity of the troughs? Trying to get my bearings on your comment here... You mentioned launching at the Campground, so are you talk...

Re: Mexico Beach from shore?

My parents live there and my dad said they have been catching whiting and pompano over the last couple of weeks off the beach. Use a two hook dropper rig with fresh shrimp or sand fleas. The public beach access at Tyndall Beach can be productive as well. It's the first dirt road on your left as you...

Mexico Beach from shore?

Going to be spending the weekend in Mexico Beach and not familiar with shore fishing in that area. Any pointers as to where I should go?

Thanks!

Electrical guy?

Anyone know of a boat electrical guy in the Tallahassee area, ideally one willing to make a house call? I have a simple electrical issue that's confounding me... I goosed something and can't figure out what I did. Not looking to haul it to a shop and pay $500 for a $50 problem. Any leads are appreci...

Ochlocknee Bridge boat ramp?

I'm looking for an easy to use boat ramp to practice loading and unloading with my first boat. I remmeber there's a ramp on the south end of the Ochlocknee bridge that seems like no one ever uses. I haven't been over there in a lot of years though. Is this a bad ramp for a beginner? How busy does it...

Re: Rods/Reels & Electronics for Ocklocknee Bay?

Aahhhhh! Yes of course, I dont know what I was thinking here... Thank you for pointing this out. I of course meant to say Apalachee Bay and not Ocklocknee Bay, I am very familiar with the difference. I'm very used to saying "Ocklocknee Bay" because of the many years Ive spent kayaking and ...

Re: Rods/Reels & Electronics for Ocklocknee Bay?

Thanks for the replies! In Ocklnocknee Bay I guess I would be targeting grouper and cobia with live bait on hardbottom? I know that it's better to get out deeper off of the islands but I live in Tallahassee so running to St Marks is easier for me on days when I don't have a lot of time. Mostly I am ...
