Re: Status of Mashes Sands Boat Ramp?

I've been using Mashes Sands again since it reopened, pretty good shape. FYI bathrooms are still closed as of this morning, just a single port-a-potty.

Looking for a ride for red snapper

Well I've taken the boat out three times so far this season trying for red snapper. First time couldn't find them, two most recent times had engine trouble and couldn't get offshore. Now looks like the boat is going to be laid up for a while getting some work done. :smt010 I'd really like to get off...

Re: Scalloping......

You're eating the reproductive organs of the urchin, so it's much softer in texture and more delicate than scallops. Generally you eat them raw, or you can very gently saute and add to pasta or the like. To clean you cut them in half with shears and scoop out the yellow/orange parts to eat.

Re: Scalloping......

:-D Never seen the short spined variety while scalloping. :-D I've seen two types in the last 10 years and I've thought about trying them but I believe all types are off the list for taking. Only Long-Spined urchins are prohibited from harvest. The rest are 20 per person, but no more than 5 of any ...

Re: Minn Kota mounting bracket

I have an R&R sliding mount that I didn't end up using for my install. Let me know if you're interested.

Interesting, I've never noticed them out there. Were there a lot? Happen to know which variety you saw? I'd make a run out there to collect some!

Re: Wakulla Beach??

Thanks for that! Don't think dragging would be much fun. Is that a daily low tide deal out there? I'll be sure to check them out. As a yakker you'll want to spend some time learning about tidal charts, and what the various +/- numbers mean for the height of high and low tides. Generally speaking th...

Re: Wakulla Beach??

You're going to want to head over to http://www.FCKA.net (Forgotten Coast Kayak Anglers). That's our local kayak fishing forum. All the info you'll ever need for plastic navy fishing around here. Been doing it myself in this area for 20+ years now. Wakulla Beach can be a great area, but tides can be...

6/15 Buoy 26 & south

Date should say 6/16 (Sunday), typo'd the thread title. Left from Mashes Sands looking to run out south and find red snapper, never been down that way. Ran to the shoal near Buoy 26 to try and catch pinfish but only found 1. :o Ran over to the 26 marker and caught pilchards and cigar minnows. About ...
