Re: Engine Overheating due to Sea Grass
Finally got around to installing a water pressure gauge on the boat. Hoping to run out to the lake later today to try it out. Does anybody know what’s typical pressure for a yamaha 115 four stroke? I’m sure it’s going to vary based on engine rpm’s, but just wondering what’s typical when it’s up and ...

Re: Engine Overheating due to Sea Grass
Finally made it back out the other day and had zero issues with engine overheating. Fished out of Horseshoe, and the floating seagrass was gone for the most part, so I’m thinking the grass was my problem all along. Also, haven’t gotten around to installing water pressure gauge, but that’s definitely...

Re: Engine Overheating due to Sea Grass
Just an update...I was back out at Horseshoe on Thursday and there was hardly any floating grass in the area, and needless to say, I had zero problems with engine overheating. Guess it’s just something I’m going to have to deal with when there’s a lot of grass around.

Re: Engine Overheating due to Sea Grass
Thanks for the responses. Good to hear that it’s a common problem on the flats, especially right now when the grass is really bad. Usually, what’s been working for me is to just stop the boat, shutdown the engine, and let the backwash roll up and hit the back of the boat. Then I can fire it back up...

Thanks, Russ. I’ll check it out.Russ@R&R wrote:Bolt 79, The poppet valve is not located at the water pump. Look online for "how to replace poppet valve on Yamaha F115". Not hard at all. (Just be careful to NOT drop any of the screws down the midsection)

Engine Overheating due to Sea Grass
Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and thanks for the add. Hoping someone here can give some insight on a problem I’ve had the last few times I’ve been out with my boat. I fish out of Horseshoe Beach and lately I’ve been having a problem with floating seagrass clogging the water intakes on my motor w...
