geofish wrote:Cool, what bait or artificial did you catch the flounder with?
I caught the flounder on live shrimp while using a Carolina rig with a 1/0 circle hook, 12" of fluorocarbon leader, and a 0.5 oz. bullet weight.

think I'll try to get out this weekend. Anyone finding any flounder out on any of the reefs?
I caught a 15" flounder a week ago Sunday at Wakulla Big Bend Regional Reef #2. However, the overall bite was slow that day.

Underwater Fishing Cameras

Amazon sells underwater fishing cameras for less than $150. These cameras come with color monitors, and the cameras are supposed to dangle below the boat on 15 to 30 m of cable. Has anybody tried these? How was your experience? Do these cameras enhance fishing or just cause aggravation? Some of thes...

How deep would I have to go?
For a more general question, what good eating fish, that is legal to keep, is biting offshore now? Anything biting around K-Tower now?

Re: What do you want to say to FWC

I'd like fish management decisions to be based on good data, not too many anecdotal experiences. And if closed seasons or more restrictions are necessary for sustainability, which I hope they are not, I hope FWC doesn't schedule the closings or impose restrictions in a way that hurts the mom and pop...

Re: Catch of the Day???

The Wakulla/ DZ reefs? I would have thought there would be more than small sea-bass and porgies out there. I would have expected grunts, grouper and snapper in those depths ( 50+ ) The reef where I snagged the fishing rod is labeled on my GPS as WakullaRf2. But the official name of the reef is Waku...

Catch of the Day???

While fishing around the Wakulla Reef on Sunday afternoon, I hooked into something that seemed a lot bigger than the grass porgies and small seabass that I had been catching. When I got it to the surface, my catch turned out to be a barnacle encrusted Shimano Scimitar spinning rod with a Shimano Sah...

Re: An even better scouting tool than google earth

By the way, if you open the link to the SAS Planet Repository using the Google Chrome browser, it can translate the Russian into English. That being said, I was not smart enough figure out how to find the satellite images of the Big Bend area. To use the translate feature on Google Chrome: 1. Open t...

Re: St. Mark's ramp

On Wednesday afternoon, I saw a small barge with an excavator on it dock at the boat ramps. I asked the guy on the ramp if he had any idea when the ramps would be up and running. He replied, "When we're done fixing it."

Went fishing & killed a deer; Wakulla is Great

I went grouper fishing in my bay boat Wednesday in hopes of finding keeper grouper before the season ends. We caught 3 small gag grouper using LYs, but the south winds and head seas would not let us get as far offshore as we had hoped. On the way back up the St. Marks River, my boat was boarded by a...

Re: Strategies For Fishing After the Big Rain?

We started fishing today near the creek by the 54 marker. The water was dark dark. We tried live shrimp and artificials, and had no real bites. We headed down to the oyster bars around the East River mouth. Still no luck. Surprisingly, we saw a few boats in the east flats. On the way back to Shell I...

Strategies For Fishing After the Big Rain?

If it's not raining tomorrow, which is Saturday December 14, I want to fish in the St. Marks River for trout, redfish, etc. I am thinking I will have the best luck using live shrimp around the oyster bars from the river mouth to about half way to the fort. Considering all the runoff and water temper...
