I am planning to launch my boat at Mexico Beach for an offshore fishing trip one of these days. When I launch out of Carrabelle or St. Marks, I catch pinfish on the grass flats on the way out. But there doesn't appear to be any grass flats at Mexico Beach. Where should I look for pinfish at Mexico B...

The only ramp I've used in the area is the Battery Park Boat Ramp at the west end of the Apalachicola-Eastpoint Bridge. The ramp is suitable for boats of all sizes.

I went fishing for grouper south of Dog Island on Saturday. The bite was slow but we did manage to boat three grouper. The biggest one was 32 inches long. We were mostly using frozen LYs cut in half for bait and we would use a little piece of squid to help the LYs stay on the hook.

This time of year, catching pinfish on the flats is not guaranteed. Be sure to take a box of frozen LYs, cigar minnows, or mackerel with you.

I was on the flats on Saturday and was unable to find pinfish as well. Fortunately, the grouper were hungry and took frozen LY's, but the grunts did, too.

The regulation of gag grouper is different for the state waters off of Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson, and Taylor counties than it is for the rest of Florida Gulf state waters.
