Does anyone use a Garmin PS30 Transducer? How is it working for you? Which view do you use most? How does the transducer affect your ability to find fish or fish-holding structure? If you are running a PS30 transducer, does it make any sense to also have sideview sonar?
Thanks.

Re: Gag Grouper Trolling Setup
Seriously? 130+ people viewed the post and nobody has ever trolled for gags? I'm not looking for any spots, just want to know what line people prefer. I can only tell you that it is a bad idea to try to troll 5 big plugs at the same time behind a 20' bay boat. I tried it several years ago when I ha...

Seafood Buffet (a metaphor, not a restaurant) S of Carrabelle
With yesterday's calm seas and overall nice weather, my friend and I decided to take the bay boat to target fish in 90+ feet of water south of Dog Island. Our primary target was red snapper. At our first stop, the bite was slow, but we managed to boat a 27" and 28" red snapper, and a seaba...

Re: Working on Capt. License
As you work on your technique to catch hogfish, I hope you post on this website your experiences about what works and what doesn't. I targeted hogfish for the first time a few months ago. I fished a live or freshly dead shrimp on a knocker rig in 30-35 feet of water. After catching many grunts, porg...

Re: Trolling Motor Power issue
I've had trolling motor issues, too. Consider checking whether your batteries are holding a charge and whether your charger is working. I replaced my trolling motor batteries thinking that they would no longer hold a charge after 3 years. (Regular batteries probably are near the end of their useful ...

2021 recreational red snapper season
The Federal Gulf Fisheries Management Council made some decisions today that seem likely to increase the red snapper red catch limits in the Gulf off Florida by at least 6%. Many of us were expecting a greater increase in the snapper allotment because we’re releasing snapper all the time and because...

When checking the in-line fuse, don't be a dummy (like me), and forget to ensure the fuse is securely in place.

I like the Robalo Caymans. I've used my 206 Cayman to catch tout, flounder, tripletail, red snapper, gag grouper, and more.

Re: Dehookers/hook remover
I've been using one of those stainless steal tube spring ones for years and they are the best you can buy. I just went on-line to look for them so I could give you a link to the exact one I use but could find it. There are a lot on the market now that are similar but they all have one BIG issue. Th...

Dehookers/hook remover
I am looking for advice on hook removers from someone who has tried/bought them all so I don’t have to. I’ve been using one of these spring-loaded tube type hook removers for years. However, when trying to remove a larger 8/0 hook stuck deep in the throat of a grouper or snapper, these hook removers...

Red Snapper
On Friday, my friends and I launched the boat at Carrabelle in hopes of making use of the last few days of the extended red snapper season. (Thank you, Governor DeSantis.) We eased our way through the fog, and loaded the live well with pinfish and pigfish. When the fog would clear enough to see, we ...

Menhaden Oil v. Milk--What's the Difference?
I've seen menhaden oil and menhaden milk for sale recently, but I can't seem to find anything that explains the differences between the two or why, when, or how one would use one instead of the other. Can anyone explain these products to me? Thanks.

Try some of the artificial reefs south of Carrabelle.Big Tim wrote:That is an interesting idea. Where are you finding these Mangrove? I have caught them in Marathon but have never even tried that far north.
