Re: Is this a chocolate snapper?
You’re right, Juan. I think it is a grunt, sort of like the smaller ones I’ve caught off our dock. You’re absolutely right about the tourist tricks. We should know by now to stay on the east side of the Hathaway Bridge.

Is this a chocolate snapper?
The spouse and I went on a head boat today at PC Beach, and we and several others caught these things. The mates called them chocolate snappers, which I’ve heard before. But I’m not sure if that’s the correct name. Are they also called something else? They look tasty enough, although it’s not the re...

Re: Can't get screws tight in leaning post
Folks, I finally found just the right thing. They're threaded brass inserts used for screws in furniture, and they're in the specialty fastener trays at hardware stores. I had epoxied the holes inside the cushion and drilled new holes. But there still wasn't enough there for the screws to grip. Thes...

Re: Can't get screws tight in leaning post
Thanks, fishinfool. To get to that back side, I would have to take off the new upholstery and put an access hole in the cushion's frame. Unfortunately, that's above my limited know-how.

Re: Can't get screws tight in leaning post
Thanks, UGAdawg. Letting it dry so it doesn’t stick to the screw sounds like a way to go.

Can't get screws tight in leaning post
I am trying to reinstall the reupholstered backrest/cushion for my leaning post, and I can't get the screws to go back in tight. They have to go through holes in the arms of the leaning post, then through the upholstery, and then into the inside frame for the upholstery. I had to drill new holes in ...

Conditions at stump hole (Cape San Blas)
Does anyone know if Sally flooded the road at the stump hole on Cape San Blas (the rocks at the bend toward the state park)? I'm wondering i about a spot just past the bend. You can park and walk down a path to a kayak launching spot on the bay. If you've been there, you've probably seen it.

Re: Opinions, please, on Garmin ECHOMAP Plus g3 64cv
Update: I bought that Garmin model on sale at West Marine, and it will fit snugly in the space I have. The sale price was the same as the Simrad Cruise 5, and the Garmin has a slightly bigger screen and many more features. I'm looking forward to playing with my new toy.

Re: Creating space for fishfinder
Thanks again, all. I bought a Garmin Echomap Plus g3 64cv on sale at West Marine, and miraculously it fits. I had measured the width, including the side knobs, at 10 and 1/2 inches on the store display. But it turned out to be 10 and 3/16 inches. That extra 5/16 inch of space, plus a slight slope at...
