Weather permitting, I think it will be a good year. We have been seeing them on the flats for weeks now. Not big ones or tons of them but they are making their way here.

You nailed it with the whole anchor and chum on structure. However, you will have a problem keeping the non desirable fish off of a live shrimp. You can eat them for sure. They have a really good taste to them and not bad to clean. You have to be careful not to go through the ribs into the stomach cavity which is how I usually fillet anyway.

Spoke with Jimmy at Shell Island yesterday. He said they have plenty of business and the only way he would shut down is if they were forced to.

We fished East for the last few days. Trout limits shouldnt be tough. We caught a few on topwater too despite the winds. All on artificial and lost several jig heads due to spanish and blues.

72 degrees on the East flats yesterday. Trout are out in force along with some blues and spanish. East river produced reds and black drum. You better get out there if you can!

I haven't been there this year but have been plenty of times in the past. We always had a great time and never had any issues at all.
