Garmin combos
I know it's kinda of silly to be looking at this when you don't have a boat; but, I've got to do something constructive with my time. Can somebody tell me if the differences b/w a Garmin 178C and a Garmin 188C are really worth the $400 or so extra bucks you pay for the 188. From what I can tell, her...

Lake Jackson
Ran down to Lake Jackson to wet a line this morning. Managed to catch a decent sunburn. Other than that, managed one largemouth that would have made good bait. The wind was nasty and had me and my canoe doing doughnuts. It was pretty tough; but, better than sittin' at home.

At least I was on the water
Put a small trolling motor on my canoe and hooked it up to an old battery I had. Mainly, I was just testing that out. Went over to Lake Munson. I'd never been there before and just wanted to check it out. Didn't have much luck. Caught one SMALL bass and had a couple of bream play with my lure. Hope ...

Noticed that Angler has updated their website (http://www.anglerboats.com). The new 173 that I had mentioned in now included. Drove down to the Newport park just goofing off today. Noticed some fishy action just up river from the boat ramp. Alot of swirling and splashing. Wasn't close enough to tell...

I'm a man and I like to shop.
Went and did a little boat shopping today. Saw a couple of boats I liked...the new Angler 173 and the Sea Pro 1700. Both seemed like a decent amount of boat for the $$. Any comments on these guys or anybody had any experience? And back to the whole storage thing...St. Marks vs. Panacea area. Either ...

Seatrout99, I've fished Stonewall many times...one of my favorite lakes. Most of my fishing was done on New and Gauley Rivers. Especially, where the two meet (making the Kanawha River). GREAT smallmouth fishing and absolutely no fishing pressure. A canoe, a trolling motor, and a pack of grubs was al...

Thanks for the quick response Wevans. 13,500 is what I would call reasonable...anything pushing 20,000 is a big stretch and not probably a good idea for my first boat. I know G3 is aluminum...what about the effects of saltwater? Any special considerations along those lines? Are saltwater motors and ...

So I'm braving the post waters. I've been reading this site for about a year and I've gotta say, it's better than any magazine you can find. So here's the deal...I've been in town (Tallahassee) for about a year. I'm originally from West "by God" Virginia and needless to say the fishing is ...
