Re: Take a Kid Fishing - Being Revived
Chuck Simpson deserves a big shout out along with son Parker for guiding my 11 year old attendee from the Guardian Ad Litem program. He enjoyed it and caught his first trout and gaff cat thanks to Parker's kindness. The fuel filter thing got us, but that is fishing ---Chuck had tested boat out exten...

Re: App National Forest pond
I thought any pond within the Apalach Nat Forest would be open to fishing. Are some closed? Or just over pressured when easily accessed?
bbb - what are the odds of a man finding a woodie roost pond that was remote enough not to be hammered regularly? I have always thought of trying that.

Thanks.

Re: Ducks Down South...
Glad you did it up right. We go the New Years weekend ourselves. We have a guide lined up for one day so I am curious how the big lake is doing. How much that big picture of duck pile is from Okeechobee vs. STA?

Re: First Gooseegg
BBB, I hear you. I have felt the same about Iamonia going back to the dry up. I have been there twice this year, fired 4 shells and hit 0. I have paddled kayak a long way and seen people slaying ringers in the distance. Thing that ticks me off is one of this hunters came back across the lake running...
Re: JAWS?
Looking at the shape of that bite I can totally see the blunt squareish head of a tiger fitting it perfectly. Would not want that dude to come body surf with me.

Re: Yellow Perch in Florida?
When I was a kid, I caught one near a dam on some lake near Albany Ga. On a yellow Snagless Sally. This was the mid 1960s. My dad was stumped and we looked it up in a library and identified it as a Yellow Perch. People would never believe it when I told about it. Eventually I thought we had been wro...

Re: Question for the local duck hunters
My two cents. 1) The blinds rule was a pain and FWC will likely not want to go there again. 2) The Iamonia NO GAS MOTOR rule was addressed and a poll taken and fought over and no change was made (maybe 5 years ago, dont recall date). That said, I hunted twice there in Jan and saw motors in use. 3) M...

Re: Important Lake Jackson meeting 02/03/15
Attended the Lake Jackson meeting and will try to summarize best I can. I duck hunt so that is my focus. I do fondly remember skiing there in the 1970s and seeing 13 lb lunkers in the 1960s glory years. First of all, I thought maybe the meeting was to introduce some new spraying/veg control plan tha...

Awfully Quiet Out There
Apparently no one hunting or fishing this month? I posted my Micco speck fishing attempt from Jan 1 and thinking about trying again this weekend. Anyone hear of any speck action there in recent days? Also you Talquin fishermen --- anybody seen ducks out there? Just a general yes or no would be appre...

Micco Speck Attempt
Had guest in town and planned to duck Jan 1. After talking to Tallahassee's pre-imminent duck hunter, I didn't think enough ducks would show up, so brother and I went speck fishing out of Reeves. [Got minnows at Reeves - be sure to check bucket before you pay, I paid for 60, got about 20.] Fished fr...
