It depends on what you want the shotshells for:
For dove hunting I bought 1 1/4 ounce 7.5 shot at Kevin's. Nobody else seems to carry the 1 1/4 ounce.
For clays I bought some cheap Estate shells at Academy when they had them on sale.

30-06. Bolt action. Synthetic stock. Scope 2-7x or 3-9x, 40mm+ objective. There are a number of really good shooting relatively inexpensive rifles available now.

Re: Mercy rule inflames parental passions
If they are having consistent blowouts in the league they need to look at coaching and/or how the teams are selected. Typically that seems to happen when certain teams get stacked with talent.

Re: No one bow hunting?
I'm not ancient by any means (53), but my overall impression of hunting when I was growing up was cold or cooler weather. I don't remember mosquitoes or sweating.

Re: Tips for Catching Spanish Mackerel?
Deeper water than trout. Flashy lure or white. Speedy retrieve. I like to set up a chum line to bring the Mack's in.

Now this would make the best bumper sticker:
"Just remember the trip out on the pond is the reward and the fish you catch are a bonus."

Would like the option that you can clean your fish before landing as long as the remainder meets the size requirements. Won't help with the fish I normally catch.

Re: Throwing cold water on somebody's nice catch...
I don't believe the problem is really "keep big fish" versus "let big fish go". I think the problem is a lack of manners (now I've started it). Momma always said if you can't say something nice don't say anything. I don't post much on any of the forums I belong to. It seems as if...
