Charter-Fishing

Guys, We're going down to Tampa Bay on the 25th and staying through the 27th coming back that night. We're meeting some friends for the Jimmy Buffet concert and they want to go fishing. I seriously doubt that the fishing from bridges and piers out there will be much better than it's been here. I tal...

The last time I was out fishing on a big boat was in June so I took the captains word for it. He's pretty anal so I'm sure that he was right one the money. We were measuring all grouper at the largest legal limit for grouper. Now we were 40+ miles off-shore in the gulf, is that Federal water? I'm no...

New Regulations

Guys, I was browsing the Florda Sportsman magazine website today and for giggles looked up the 2005 regulations. Much to my dismay Red Grouper are all of a sudden to a bag limit of 2 per person. Anyone know why for this change from 5? Other question it says that any fishing in Salt Water from land o...

Thanks Jarhead. I forgot to mention that I only use dark swivels. I didn't know that fish would strike the shiny ones, but I just had a feeling that it would be better to use the dark ones. Kevins has some REALL nice light weight ones that will still hold 150# - 200# ones. If your going for trout or...

I've been wondering how the new Storm Suspended Swim Shad would work out in these areas. I've had some luck with the standard swim shad bouncing it on the bottom and wonder how I would do with a suspending one. They are new but I havn't heard of anyone using them. Any ideas?

I usually to my mono for floro to my braided with a swivel and a standard uni knot. I know a lot of people don't like hardware, but I found that when using worms or my swim shads the lures don't spin in the water like they do when they are tied directly to the braid. With live bait it's up to you. T...

Unfishing report continued

We put the boat out right above the bridge and went down river. We never made it up river. I'm interested in trying some bass fishing up there seeing how the fresh fishing is on that river. I think that's for next time, or maybe you and I could try on a nice warm day, I can't believe how fast it got...

Unfishing Report for 1/22/05

Gentlemen, Today's fishing trip started at about 12:30PM when my wife left to go get her hair cut with about 3 other women. I talked to my best friend and suggested we go wet our lines. In his usual overly enthusiastic tone he replied, "Uh, sure." So we started out on our trek. :thu...

Boaters License.

I have to agree. EVERY individual who owns and operates boat should be required to get a license to drive said boat. Being an X-lifeguard for lakes and pools in Iowa and Missouri, I would have to say that the only times I got in the water to save a life was when a boater knocked himself/herself out ...

Bass Pro

Guys. The one in Atlanta is nice and big. the one in Destin had a much better Salt water collection. My roomie and I have been to the original in Springfield, Missouri. I have to say that my favorite is in Springfield. Although I didn't really start having fun in them until about 10 months ago, I ha...

Circle Hooks.

The only time I don't use circle hooks are on plugs that come with Treble hooks and on soft plastic that seem to work best with a weighted head. When I fish fresh water I use worm hooks on my plastic worms. On all my live bait I use circle hooks. I don't know how well they would work on lures. I fig...

Sure.

I can always use company when exercising futility. I might be going out and attempting to drown more shrimp this weekend. I havn't decided yet. It all depends on my and my wifes schedule. I'm allowed one futile attempt at catching fish with her per month, I used that up last week. She's not really h...

2nd and 3rd

I tried to do some of my normal (poor mans no boat) fishing this last weekend. Even on BAD days I've had better luck. I went lean on the bait since I didn't anticipate and feeding frenzies, but aparently not lean enough. I got a dozen shrimp and a box of LY's. Went out to St George Island Pier on th...

The location kind of does dictate things. Since we've already booked the hotel and three strip club parties. :o But since my grooms men are such broke sissies, I'm planning an early spring fisihing trip on a boat. I have a couple of friends who are comming down from Missouri and they are interested ...
