Questions on mounting a kicker motor and bracket
Hi guys - in my continuing efforts to outfit this boat for fishing in the Gulf (hey, everybody needs a hobby), I want to mount a 9.9 Yamaha kicker outboard I recently bought on the stern of my 19 ft. cuddy cabin. I have a couple of questions on this: 1) How far should the kicker motor be in the wate...

You do not need a Y splitter to hook up NMEA to multpile devices. Thanks Tom - this is getting demystified pretty quick with all the help I am getting from you guys. Now all I need is a firewall, wireless broadband, web and data servers, and a domain controller and I'll be serving up fish locations...

Wiring GPS, VHF and Fishfinder via NMEA 0183 interface cable
I have connected my VHF (DSC) radio to my Garmin GPS via an NMEA 0183 interface cable. I am looking at buying a more modern fishfinder(current favorite-to-buy is a Raymarine DS400x) that takes the GPS input. Can I hook the GPS to both the GPS and the DS400x at the same time? Do I need some type of &...

Can't tell if messages was posted in a.m. or p.m. ?
Is it just my imagination, or does the time stamp on a message in this forum not tell you either a.m. or p.m. (since it does not appear to display in 24 hour time)?
I find that I am a little confused if messages were posted in the a.m. or p.m. Maybe it is some setting on my end?
Thanks.

CD - take a look at this one... This Shakespeare 5225-XT antenna was highly recommended to me both by boat store people and fishermen. After a lot of web surfing, I bought one for $99.95 here with free shipping . Since it is 8ft and therefore oversize UPS/FEDEX, expect to pay $20 - $30 shipping cost...

Nissan / Tohatsu 4-stroke - opinions?
I haven't had much luck finding a used small outboard :smt012 , and I need to get an auxillary motor for my 20 ft. open water boat as I don't feel like paddlin' 15 miles if my Merc I/O breaks down. A 6hp long-shaft 4-stroke at 55 lbs. seems to fit my needs, but the Mercury's are about $1600+ not inc...

Boat inspection requirements
Hi guys - interesting thread. I agree that the FWC men are our friends and if you work to get along with them, they will be glad to return the favor. One of you old salty's surely knows where the regs are for what a boat must have on board to pass the inspection? I know about life jackets and flares...
