Re: Fishing St Marks

I agree that the St.Marks river would be a good place to try this time of year. You can catch fish and it's a clean ride all the way up to the bridge at Newport and beyond. There are some rocks in the river that you could hit so you should proceed cautiously if you go above the bridge. You can catch...

St Marks 1-2

This morning I was trying to decide whether to go today or tomorrow and couldn't ... so I decided to go both days. Here's the first day recap: Left Shell Island around 11:30. Ran offshore to 35'. Took it slow because of the seas. Trolled with stretch 30. Going with the tide near crab traps. Marked a...

Re: Friday

Good morning and happy New Year to everyone. I'm going either today or tomorrow. Was leaning toward tomorrow but weather looks beautiful and I'm itching to go. Fortunately, I don't have to agonize over this decision as I'm taking my wife out with me. She'll make the decision. Will launch at the Fort...

Re: Econfina, general info

I've been out of that river at least a hundred times and am not confident I'll ever know where all the rocks are. That's why I just idle when the water's low. Glad you got out there. It's one of the most beautiful places in the state and, like JT says, it is a very fishy place. The Ghenoe is not a b...

Re: Econfina, general info

There's rocks everywhere in that river, especially within a mile or two either direction of the boat ramp. I always just idle the first mile or so going out. It doesn't take long and it's a really pretty part of the river. Once I'm past the tree sticking out into the middle of the river (about 1/2 m...

St Marks 9-14

Gotta make this quick but wanted to give a report since it's been awhile... Got out about 1:00 this afternoon. Plan was to catch a couple redfish quick and head offshore. Too windy for offshore so stayed inshore. Never seen the water so nasty. Had to stop a couple times to clear grass from water int...
