Re: Who uses a casting platform?
I keep a 65 qt RTIC cooler on the boat, but it always has a million pounds of ice, beer, and water in it . That's interesting on the ratio of height to visibility. I wouldn't have guessed a foot higher would get you 20 foot of visibility.

Who uses a casting platform?
I'm thinking about buying a casting platform for my Carolina Skiff for sightfishing(Cobia and Reds). I have a hard time spotting fish from the deck unless I'm on top of them. Most of the casting platforms I see online are only 16"-18" tall. Is 16"-18" going to make a considerable...

Awesome trip! Nothing like pitching a bait to a big cobia!

Re: Steinhatchee: Cinco De Mayo
Yea, I figured the big trout were probably in shallow with the reds. We weren't in the tourney so were fine with the schoolies. Glad y'all caught a few. Glad y'all found them. We never could. Only managed four keeper trout but those were good ones two at 19" and two at 22". One of the two ...

Steinhatchee: Cinco De Mayo
Myself and two buddies left the dock at 6:30am. The bite was slow for the first two hours. Struggled to find fish. Zig zagged back and forth from 3 ft to 6 ft for at least 2 miles until we found a couple groups of quality trout. We drifted those spots for the next few hours and caught a couple quali...

From the number of boats at Good times and Sea Hag, it's probably gonna be a little crowded out there tomorrow...

Re: Steinhatchee 4/29 as good as it gets!
Fished north of the river for an hour or so this afternoon. Caught a few trout, a couple Spanish, and a couple of ladyfish in 4 foot of water. Moved up towards rock point and caught a 25" red in 2ft.

Re: Steinhatchee 4/29 as good as it gets!
I'll be heading down to Steinhatchee tomorrow afternoon and staying the weekend across the river from Sea Hag, at Good Times Motel and Marina. Ken, if you want to PM me your number, I can give you some on the water reports if/when/where we find the fish. I fish out of Steinhatchee all the time and k...

Re: Steinhatchee sheeps on the reef
Glad you got a few. We stayed at Good Times too. We decided to stay inshore and not make the trek to the reef on Saturday. We ended up with 2 reds, 8 trout, and 4 flounder. Caught a bazillion 14.5 inchers to get to the 8 slots.

Re: Sheepshead at Steinhatchee Reef?
The inshore bite was slow this afternoon. Water temp was 62-63. If it's slow in the morning, I may make the run and try out the reef.

Sheepshead at Steinhatchee Reef?
I've been reading that sheepshead start moving out to Steinhatchee Reef this time of year, but I've never been out there. I'll be down this weekend and figured I might give it shot if the inshore bite is slow. Anyone have a recent report?

Re: Keaton 2/25
I fished Saturday out of Keaton. We caught 20+ keeper trout 16-22 inches (most were released) and another 30 or so shorts. The fish had moved out onto the flats in 4 to 6 foot of water. Didn't catch anything in the creek mouths or on the grass line. There were a ton of boats on the water, most of th...
