Yates Creek Wednesday April 17

Got to the creek about 9:00am. Bone dry. Managed to shove the Stumpnocker off the trailer into about three inches of water. That was a feat considering I have a broken foot in a splint up to the knee. My wife has helped launch my boats enough in the 45 years we"ve been fishing partners that she...

Re: thursday 4/18

Re: New Member

Hey Chris. I don't fish tournaments anymore. Just for fun, and of course meat. This area is my favorite also. Mainly because I was raised between Keaton and St. Mark's. Graduated from Wakulla High in Medart. Taking a thirty year break to live and work for my uncle and his business. His name is Sam a...

Re: New Member

Strange, but the site just allowed me back in under my old user name. Now have to figure out how to kill Old Corps.

Re: Happy Birthday United States Marine Corps!

SS Just a couple points of interest. The Navy's birth year is 1776. The Marine Corps's birth year is 1775. We are a department of the Navy......THE MEN"S DEPARTMENT.

Today is the Marines day. Tomorrow is all the Veterans day. That is all that matters.

Catching lots of small trout, and reds at Keaton. Few keeper trout. Catching eight to nine throw back reds to every keeper size.

Re: New hotel @ Keaton?

I live there and haven't seen any new Motels. There is a little portable food trailer at the end now. I don't think the lady who owned that land wants anything rebuilt there. Don't know for sure, just what I've heard.

Re: Wards Island (another recollection)

Wards Island is a large island with a number of camps and used to be one large camp that was built many years before I was born as I understand. Leaving the boat ramp heading back up river it is right below where the Wacissa and the Aucilla join together.

Grandma's House (By Request re-post)

Grandma’s House It was a delightful place to spend a childhood. It was summer days drenched with sunlight, woods so dense daylight could barely penetrate, Cabbage Palms taller than a city skyscraper. Clusters of purple grapes dangled from a backyard arbor, lavender wisteria blossoms perfumed the ai...

Re: Wards Island (another recollection)

Cran,
I have a few more that I posted a few years ago. I'll re-post a few just in case any new to the site wants to read them again. They are all about my childhood growing up in the Big Bend of Florida. Thanks for reading them.

Re: Wards Island (another recollection)

That's exactly where it is Reb. Funny how things turn out, my cousin owns Wards Island now. As far as a book. I took 20 years to finish our family history book. Found out a 500 page book was way too expensive to publish, so I released it free on the Internet It's "Hillhouse Kinship" if you...

Wards Island (another recollection)

Wards Island Looming in the middle of the Aucilla River in an air of mystery, Ward’s Island was a place we had never been able to visit. To get there you had to navigate three miles down river, most of which you couldn’t tell on high tide where the river stopped and the cypress swamp started. On lo...

Re: Stripers and hybrids

My aunt ran the little canoe, and kayak rental business at the foot of the New Port bridge for many years. I've been down to see her a few times when she showd me pictures of large stripers they had caught under the bridge there, ( 10 pound plus.) I haven't fished there myself since I was a kid, but...
