Re: Tips on navigating Talquin safely?
My son fishes Talquin all the time and he has found that the Navionics phone ap is a big help. You need to stay in the river and creek channels if you aren't familiar with the lake. The ap will show you where these are if they are not marked on your GPS. If you have Google Earth on your computer you...

Re: Boat Flooring Question -
I appreciate all the replies. Another forum member texted my about Hydro Turf. Sounds like that may be the way to go. I contacted Sea Ark and they won't sell a roll of the grey vinyl without going through one of their dealers. BBB - Which flooring is in the bass boat in your pics? Thanks - Steve Sti...

Boat Flooring Question -
Does anybody on here have experience with Sea Deck or a similar flooring? My 2013 Sea Ark 2072 floor is beginning to show some wear so I am looking for options. The original grey vinyl that Sea Ark uses is one option. Another would be Sea Deck or similar product. I am not really interested in spray ...

Re: Keaton this past weekend?
You have to figure that the shark story that made all the news channels had some impact also. I know my neighbors who own a place at Econfina had no interest in scalloping this year and my brother who normally goes with me every year wanted to fish instead. I fished from Dog Island to beyond the FSU...

Is Academy Sporting Goods still selling H2o Lures?
Is Academy still selling H2o lures? I went there today and did not see hardly any at all on the rack. They were the Academy brand that was cheap knock-offs, but some of them actually worked. I don't know if they quit selling them or they are having shipping problems but there were none of the saltwa...

Re: Big day
Awesome Day. We had a good day last Friday out of Econfina. The odd thing was we found reds every place we stopped. Up in the creeks - redfish. Out on the flats with stops in 3', 6' and even 8' of water - redfish one after another. We caught small trout, but only two keepers. The floating grass mats...

Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
I have used both. I still use a jon for winter around Aucilla. I really like the FG ride compared to the bounce and beating from running a CC aluminum. I have a shallow enough draft in the Action Craft, its a cool surface in the hot sun. Yes there is a little more maintenance. Once a year I polish ...

Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
My Sea Ark is a 2172 (21 foot long x 72 inches wide at the floor). Lots of room, plenty stable and runs shallow, but it will beat you in a chop. If you're seriously considering buying one, we can go fish for a day and I will let you run it around.

Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass for our area
I have been holding off commenting on this thread, but I will chime in here to bring up one point I haven't seen. That is the tannin stained water we have to the east and south of St Marks. When I first moved up here in 1994, I bought a brand new Sea Pro Bay that was a great all around boat. However...

Re: Fishing the wind
Well, true to form I fished the high winds again Saturday morning out of Econfina. We caught a good bag of trout, flounder, reds and seabass before the lightning showed up on two sides of us. At about 1:45 pm, we cranked up and made a run for cover. Got the boat on the trailer just as it was beginni...

Re: Fishing the wind
It seems to be high winds every weekend these days. The best thing I ever did for wind was investing in a Power Pole. You can move along a bar or other structure, pole down, fish, then repeat. I have had mine for many years and seem to remember paying $1,400.00 for it at a CCA Banquet. I have no ide...

Re: Fishing the wind
With that small of a boat there are two ramps you can use at Hickory Mound, one at Aucilla and one at Econfina. At Aucilla you can go halfway down river then cut through West Pass into Sulphur Bayou. There is a lot of creeks and sheltered water to explore back there. At Econfina you can get between ...

Yamaha 13x19 stainless prop needed.
My poor old Yamaha stainless prop I have been running for the past 7 years is worn to a nub. If anybody has one they are willing to part with let me know. Also, If you have dealt with a prop dealer in the past with good results I am open to that route. I need a prop to fit a 2013 F-90 13 inch diamet...

Re: Price of Gulp 3" Shrimp where you shop?
i had to go downtown (Monticello) to the Clerk of Courts office yesterday to pull some copies of old plats. While there, I walked across the street to Trophy Creek Outfitters and spoke with J.T. Searles the owner. He confirmed that Gulp has gone way up on what they are charging the retailers for the...
