Re: Will trade creek glory holes for hints on where to net shrimp
Correctamundo. I read those regs, too. Have heard rumor of fall shrimp runs around Bald Point, well west of the Refuge. Hoping to dial in around that area.

Will trade creek glory holes for hints on where to net shrimp
My wife desires fresh shrimp. Not frozen store-bought I'm clueless on where to net them. Will happily trade intel on primo St Marks Refuge tidal creek trout/reds holes for general info on coastal shrimp target areas. PM me if interested in an info swap.

Has not worked for me since mid-September. When I click location, it says "Not Found (bad URL)." I have been using www.saltwatertides.com instead.

Re: Almost Fall Y’all!
Yikes. Can we please get back to the original thread? Those were great pics and a nice report earlier. I can only add that even with the rains, some SMNWR creeks are still holding seatrout and reds, which are hitting best about an hour on either side of high/low slack tide. Just not in the great num...

Re: Chain Castnets?
I recently wasted money on a 7ft chain net (not a bag net, but a standard draw net with lead lines). Seemed like a great idea, but the chain links were way too light to get a full spread. I guess it could work, but I suggest you make sure that the chain yields a weight of at least close to 1lb per r...

Re: Fly Tie Night!!
I attempted fly tying, and quickly uncovered my lack of talent. However, during a long-ago military assignment to the Pacific Northwest, I got into salmon fly fishing, and still own a collection of 20 unused steelhead flies from Oregon legend Al Brunell (Google him). Will happily trade this classic ...

Filled propane tanks for $35 each
Two full propane tanks (exchanged last week at Home Depot, not used at all) for $35 each. I somehow accrued 4 tanks over the last 10 years. Wife said get rid of two, since I only have one grill, and 4 tanks is overkill. Just exchanged all 4 tanks last week at Home Depot, so I have 2 full ones to get...

Re: Questions about cast netting mullet in the fall
To gently swerve this thread back to your original question... The St Marks Refuge is chock full of mullet. The canal/pool adjacent (east) of the lighthouse holds thousands, and all the creeks that feed from Deep Creek levee to the bay also are highways for eating-size mullet. You will need to learn...

Re: Dumb question time (Tucker Lake)
I have kayak fished Tucker Lake many times, launching within the state park at the lake. It is a strange body of water. Definitely salty, as it is fed directly from Ocky Bay. The main lake is very shallow, with mushy bottom (not good for wading). I have had days there where I swore nothing swam in t...

Re: Fish bit someone at St marks sandbar
While fishing the St Marks Refuge last weekend, I had to shoo a big one away that kept following me and harrassing the trout on a stringer that I had tied to my kayak. I got out for a minute to wadefish (with kayak in tow) and the puffer kept circling me like a horsefly with fins. Never had this hap...
