Re: Good Morning / Good Week
What size wire gauge should I use? I know to use marine grade wiring and solid connectors with some e-grease to prevent corrosion. I’m wiring the nav-lights, LED flounder lights, LED interior lights, depth finder, and maybe a bilge pump. I don’t see any of this drawing high amounts of power, but do...

Re: Carrabelle closes boat ramps to all non resident
"Now the private Lanark Boat Club is closing their ramp.? :smt011 So I assume this means they are going to refund money to every boater that purchased their annual pass - correct? You would likely be entitled to a pro-rated refund commensurate with the length of the closure. Or, you could elec...

Re: Did anyone from GA get told to go home this weekend?
Some of the ramblings on here about the "illegal" actions of closing boat ramps are just insane. It sucks, but it's well within the purview of whichever controlling jurisdiction is at play to shut down public access facilities for any number of reasons. Renovations, cleaning, public safety...

Re: Good Morning / Good Week
I redid all the wiring in my boat this past year. Didn't know the first thing about it at the time, but figured I should learn. Ordered a new custom switch panel, couple hundred feet of marine grade wire and connectors, some crimpers, fuse panel, terminal blocks, circuit breakers... took about a wee...

Re: Did anyone from GA get told to go home this weekend?
Classic Prisoner's Dilemma. Each time a new jurisdiction closes their ramps to non-residents it exacerbates the situation for all other jurisdictions, who then experience the additional surge in traffic shifting from other areas and furthers their own problems. With each new closure, it will force a...

Re: Hickory Mound launch
The paddle wasn't as long as I thought it would be. A point of reference I used was some lookout tower East of the creek entrance in the impound area. That helped in guiding me. At different points I could also see the vehicles parked at the launch, so that helped as well. We came back in about 2 h...

Re: Rental
Almost every property on AirBnB or VRBO will do a term rental at a discounted rate, especially times like now when the bookings are slim. Just contact them via the platform and let them know how long you're looking to stay. I've done it multiple times for prices less than a third the advertised nigh...

Whetstone Point
Is Whetstone Point on the east or west side of Mashes peninsula? I've always thought it was the point on the east/Gulf side, but happened to notice today in Navionics they have it labeled on the west side in Levy bay.
Which is it?

Wading at "St Teresa"
Was planning to do some social distancing tomorrow in the kayak but a buddy wants to take along and go wading. Found a lot of posts about wading St Teresa beach... where are those guys putting in from? Leonards Landing or somewhere else farther to the west?

Re: Hickory Mound launch
The first time you go out there, I would plan on trying to be back a good 2hrs before low tide. Worst case scenario, you end up having to drag back to the road through the mud but with 3 hours until sunset. What you absolutely do not want to do, is get stuck out there after dark. Check those stories...

Re: Hickory Mound launch
Hickory Mounds at low tide is no bueno if you don't know what you're doing. Can end up dragging a mile through mud, down the wrong creek mouths. Real easy to get very lost. Make sure you have GPS... FCKA.net has lots of stories about guys getting stuck/lost for 12+ hours at Hickory Mounds if you're ...

Re: Mashes sands boat ramp
I can barely get in and out of Mashes Sands some days in my 20ft, so definitely wouldn't risk it on lower tides in a 26.Screenman wrote:Hey does anyone know if I could launch my 26’ boat with 2’8” draft at mashes sands? Didn’t know if it would be too shallow on low tide.
Thanks!

Re: Marinas: Essential
The new order today specifically mentions “fishing” as essential under the Recreation clause. So I assume marinas will continue to operate in furtherance of that.
