Re: St Marks trout thrashing
What I started with was the idea that many charter captains are giving their fish to the paying customer to take home plus their own limit for the day. That still seems illegal to me and the FWC officers in the meeting room said it was also. The customer would have to have been on a multi day charte...

Re: St Marks trout thrashing
I could have sworn I wrote lower then 10% . I should have just stuck with leaving the wording mortality in there. I fixed my original post. I still can't find the hand out that they gave at the meetings. I am sure the mortality was higher then 10%. I find many of the trout have tears from the strugg...

Re: St Marks trout thrashing
The guide's actions of giving the fish to the client , put them over the limit while driving home. Some seem happy to break the laws to get tips or whatever from the clients.

Re: St Marks trout thrashing
I can't find it now that I am looking to reference it but I thought the release survival rate was much higher then your 10% from Texas that you found. It was in the paper from the trout meetings, I just have to find it. He said the mortality rate was 10%. That means 10% die and the “survival rate” ...

Re: Too many trout and redfish being caught?
Of the last 7 keeper size red fish we caught in the last 60 day two of them had pretty bad dolphin chomps on them. Both had the same pattern, one had started to heal the other was quite fresh. I've seen people pick up and leave when they see dolphin but I've had some good catches about a 1/2 hour af...

Re: Find a spring, catch a mess of mullet
It may be legal for him to peddle them, but I doubt it’s legal for a recreational fisherman to sell them to him. He can peddle , but he has got to be peddling something legal to sell to be right. I see so many shrimp sellers and a few crab and fish sellers that likely are not legal. You can't even ...

Re: Record-class bowfin lurk in Refuge canals
I caught about a 6 lb one in Newnan Lake in Gainesville 10 years ago. I tried making fish patties out of it. Just couldn't get past the total mush texture. Never tied a ladyfish they are just to good a bait to even think twice. One ladyfish will get you many more GOOD fish in return.

Suwannee , Dec was good , now what?
We got out 5 times in Dec. and did good on every trip. First few had trout, reds and whiting, even an atlantic croker. had to look that one up since I've never caught one before. Last trip was in heavy fog and nothing was biting, the weather had changed enough that the reds were not on the bars any ...

Re: Are fishing regulations and enforcement, out of control?
I would be happy to see more officers around. I've been stopped twice last year and hardly yearly before that. I still run into fishermen that don't know Gag changed size or redfish limit changed. I'd love to stop seeing Woods n Water stop posting picture of what looks to me to be over the limit on ...

Re: 3 FL Men Charged in Shark-dragging Case
These men are comfortable doing what they did, aka no remorse. Animal cruelty is a psychological problem that I feel is something people are born with. They are wired wrong and will away be a burden on the system in some way. Obviously the parents of at least one of them has lots of money so likely ...

Re: New Regulations on limits
I also catch many more just under 15" then i do in the limit sizes. I hate to see how torn up there mouths are after just a short struggle. I am on the fence about lowering it though because a 14" trout is not a lot of meat. I know I'll get trashed for this but I would be for a slightly lo...
