Those do look like good reels for the price. I may pick one up after they release the 3000 size. If I like what I see I might look into becoming a small dealer for them. Definately can't beat American Made.

The ICW between Destin and Pensacola should be holding some trout as well as just outside the mouth of Joe's Bayou. Some spanish should be just inside the pass up to around crab island or so. I'll be flounder fishing mostly in some of the bayous around Niceville and Freeport come that time.

Yeah, from what I've heard Island View isn't exactly the nicest place to stay, but all I really need is a bed. The price of a room at Island View isn't bad either, and the location is good. Thanks for the help ya'll.

I only plan on making that trip if it is dead flat and the tides aren't too bad. I always carry VHF radio and cell phone for emergencies. There will be plenty of boats there that weekend. I've had to paddle long distances against rough water and wind before and don't care to do it again. Lanark Reef...

I'm taking my new Bimini 15 down to fish for the weekend. Rough water doesn't bother me as much as fighting currents does. I have paddled quite a bit in the gulf so know how to handle rough water. Unless it is dead calm I won't be trying the Dog Island paddle though. The distance isn't too bad. I wa...

Thanks for the help. The West end of Lanark reef is definately in my range, and possibly Dog Island also if it is calm. My topographic map software doesn't even have Lanark reef on it. I'll probably pick up a good chart for the area before I go also.

Inshore Carabelle

Hows the fishing inshore out of Carabelle? Going to be fishing that area the first weekend in April and am looking for some areas within a couple miles to fish. I'm used to fishing more pronounced bay systems up here in the Destin area. I suspect the trout will be moving into shallower water by earl...

You could probably get a Cape Horn 17 for around that price.

Like the improved clinch here also, but use the palomar when using braid lines. The palomar is probably the easiest to learn. It is the one I teach to everyone I fish with who doesn't know how to tie a hook or lure on.
