Re: Lab Puppies for Sale
Do the sire and dam have any health clearances? Hips, Elbows, EIC or CNM? I bought a lab affected with EIC and swore I would never buy from another litter that has not been tested for it.

Re: Decent anchor selection?
Other than West Marine or Bass Pro I don't know of a local source with a large selection of anchors. AMS in Panacea probably has some.
If you considering having one shipped, I've read good reviews on Sea Claw anchors. http://www.reelcharterfishing.com/anchor.htm

Re: Alligator Hunts
I drew Lake Iamonia for first week. Any body else get a permit? I got nothing. 3rd year in a row I strike out during phase 1. My buddy got Iamonia first week. So I may see you out there. It gets harder every year to get tags during phase 1. Swamp people phenomenon I'm sure is partly to blame, lots ...

Re: Labrador Retriever Seizures
I have two labs that I run field trials and hunt tests with. I am very familiar with labs and their predisposed conditions. If the dog is not losing consciousness and returns to normal shortly after the incident there is a very good chance the dog has EIC. This is especially true if it is only affec...

Re: Van Staal Reels
I've used Van Staals when I lived in South Florida and offshore fished. They are one heck of reel that will stand up to a lifetime of abuse. The Van Staals have fantastic drag systems that allow you to fight huge fish from a small reel. However, they are heavy and not the smoothest reel. For inshore...

Re: GPS/Fishfinder combo
Maybe I should add that I mostly fish inshore and the rivers. I exclusively fish inshore. To me a good chart is more important than the fishfinder features. In 2' of water a fishfinder is not much help. However, having a good chart that allows you to plan safe routes through skinny, rocky water all...

Re: GPS/Fishfinder combo
I am looking into upgrading my electronics and only spend about $700 on a new combo. So far, I am leaning towards the Lowrance Elite 7HDI. Does anyone have good or bad things to say about this machine? What machine would you prefer in this price range? Your feedback will be greatly considered in my...

Re: Gun ranges?
I would highly recommend you and your wife take the basic handgun course at Talon: www.talontraininggroup.com/ This is most intensive course that I have seen offered in the area. It will be an all day course with lots of hands on time. You will have the opportunity to try out multiple handguns at th...

Re: Reel suggestions
I'm not ashamed, I buy the best the cheapest I can find. Often times off the net. If you want my money, you work for it just like me, hard labor! I completely agree. For those of you who do shop at Academy and have any suggestions please let me know, especially if maybe there is something we don't ...

Re: Reel suggestions
I'm a big fan of the Shimano Stradic Ci4+. My 2500 handles just about anything on the flats but tarpon.
By the way, is the Academy in town ever going to sell higher end fishing rod and reels? Seems like they only have entry level rod and reels.

Re: Water clarity report for 10/12/13
Went out of mashes sands today and fished the bay. Water is still pretty dark. In 1.5 feet of water I can barely see the bottom. Fish didn't seem to care what color the water was.

Re: Ammo in TLH
I'm going to sound like a homer- but Kevin's had really low prices on the Rio shotgun ammo. All I got was bird shot. Can't say anything about pistol/rifle rounds or Buckshot. Kevin's was $69 for a case (10 boxes) of Rio 20 Gauge 8 shot. A case of 20 gauge 8 shot Rio is $54.90 at Academy. Kevin's am...
