Lake Jackson (Crowder rd) 8/6/13

We arrived at 6:30am and we were surprised to see 4 boats already in the water. I guess it was no secret that today is the New moon. Surface temps were in the low 80s and the wind was calm. The fish were feeding when we arrived, and they continued to feed for the next 30 minutes before they stopped ...

Lake Jackson (Church Cove and Crowder rd) 8/1/13

We put in at around 2pm and immediately headed to Church cove to anchor in the deep water and fish open water. The sun was out and bright, and surface temps were in the low 80s. We parked 100ft off the edge of the shoreline watershield. We got no bites with 7 poles out for an hour and half so we pic...

Lake Jackson 8/3/13

We put in real early at 6am, the sun hadnt quite risen when we arrived but it was about to be morning really soon. The water at Crowder was in the high 70s to start the day and still turbid. For the first couple of hours we fished the inside and outside of the pads with no luck for the first couple ...

Re: Lake Jackson 7/23/13 (Rhoden Cove and Crowder rd)

New to the site and freshwater fishing (big saltwater fisherman). I just got my hands on a 14ft fiberglass jon boat. Where do you suggest launching at Lake Jackson? p..s awesome report HWY 27 has hard bottom going 150ft out into the water if you want to launch properly. If you have a 4x4 you can la...

I would, if I didnt filet everything. She gives a lot of her fish away, and has a huge chest freezer.

Re: Lake Jackson (Crowder rd and HWY 27) 7/27

Great looking fish! I'm curious to hear how they taste - last bream I got out of jackson were musty - but that was a few years back. I always soak or freeze the filets or headless carcasses in a light brine and milk. Everything from 10lb catfish to bream taste the same to me in brine and milk. I ju...

Lake Jackson (Crowder rd and HWY 27) 7/27

Today looked to be good weather, so we made plans to fish Lake Jackson with some friends. We put in separately at HWY 27 and Crowder, but met up on the Crowder side of the lake. Surface temps were in the high 70s in the morning and the wind was coming from multiple directions throughout the day. At ...

Re: Lake Jackson (Crowder rd) 7/24/13

Broken pink worms and whole pink worms suspended 5ft in 8-10ft and some suspended 4ft in 5-6ft weedless flats. The big BG were scattered and feeding in 5ft for the most part.

Lake Jackson (Crowder rd) 7/24/13

After having a great day catching huge BG and shell crackers the day before we made plans to hit it again. It was a little warmer of a day and more stormy when we arrived. Surface temps were about 80 and the wind was coming out of the SE at about 10-15mph. We had to wait an hour after arriving due t...

Re: Lake Talquin (Hall Landing) 7/20/13

We drift with poles away from the boat as far as possible. 12ft+ poles catch more fish than 7ft rods. We try to get at least 2-4 unmanned poles out the sides all but one with live bait. One rod always has a jig or lure of some kind tipped with a worm or minnow. With those poles out we cast or bream ...

Lake Jackson 7/23/13 (Rhoden Cove and Crowder rd)

We had a tentative fishing date set for today based on how much rain was coming. We were gonna try Jackson yesterday, but it was raining all day, and I was in no mood for that. The skies were overcast at 2:00pm when we put in with lots of darker clouds. The wind switched from NW before noon to 20mph...

Re: Joe Budd Pond 7/20/13

There is nothing you can do. Dont miss when you know youre in a school of "larger of its kind" fish. They will eventually catch on a little, but you can continue the bite by not missing them. I also make a habit of hauling the fish quickly out of the school. I have pulled up to 12 bull BG ...

Joe Budd Pond 7/20/13

With windy weather and tough tough fishing conditions at Talquin we decided to head to Joe Budd Pond to tear up some fish. We started off by landing 8 Sunshine Bass before spooking the bite out of them on 3-4 missed hooksets. We could literally watch them stare at our bait and not take it while the ...

Lake Talquin (Hall Landing) 7/20/13

At the last minute we decided to head to Luther Hall and spend some time in the goat island area. It was cloudy and the wind was steady out of the south. Surface temps were in the low 80s from all the rain we've received recently. I've noticed on my top charts that this area was the start of the dee...
