Sunday 7/14
Fished with my BIL from the kayaks on Sunday morning. Bay boat was in the shop and couldn't get the outboard on the jon boat to crank. Ahh the joys of boat ownership.... We paddled out over the oyster bar but there was not much activity so we kept going to a shallow grass flat. Saturday there were a...

Re: what size reel
Most of my outfits are equipped with 30 or 3000 series depending on the make. My current favorite is the Diawa BG 30 spooled with 20 lb braid.

Re: The Other kind of trout!
Well done! Cherish those memories. My baby just turned 18 and it seems like just yesterday when we were standing by a pond catching bream with a pink 3 foot Barbie pole.

Re: Jig Head Colors
Have used different color jig heads but the vast majority of my fish have come on unpainted heads. I always have everyone in the boat fishing something different when we start to see what the fish want. Like others have said, the weight and shape of the jig head will have a significant impact on the...

Saturday 4/13
Fished last weekend and caught trout on a variety of baits mostly under corks in 5 feet of water or less. We caught a bunch of shorts and 4 keepers Sunday morning, but early Sunday afternoon was really tough. Water temp was 68.5 when we left. With the warm weather this week, I was convinced the flat...

Trout + skitterwalk beats any day I have ever had at the office. Congrats.

Re: Great weekend at Econfina
Nicely done. We fished hard on Saturday in cool windy conditions around Shell Point and managed 6 trout to 19". No reds. Water temp was 65. Saw Spanish jumping and had one cutoff but did not land any.

Re: Lake side Tuesday
Great picture. I have a picture of my son at Spring Break 2 years ago with a little bass he caught on the fly rod just to the left of that tree. Fun memories. I should have taken the picture when he caught the tree....

Re: Looking for a kid gun
The Tri-Star is a good gun. They tend to be a little rough out of the box and the critique is that they do not cycle light loads reliably. A friend bought one for his son and I cleaned it and worked the action (1000X) and applied lubrication on the friction spots. It has performed flawlessly basical...

Silverking is telling you the truth. Weather is not good for the weekend. I would not drive 7 hours with the current forecast.

That second one is really nice. The only racked buck I have seen so far was a 10 point that I saw in my neighborhood driving home from hunting.

Saturday 10/27
Took my boat back to the coast on Saturday. Wanted to run some gas through it, but when I saw the low tide, the floating debris, and the strong winds, I decided it was not a good idea to go exploring. I spent some time cleaning up around the house, but eventually the salt air got to me. I threw the ...

Dock recommendations
Unfortunately like a lot of other Florida property owners, I need to have a new dock built. Any recommendations from the crowd?

Great trip. My dad used to say that big fish eat little fish. Seems like you had some of that going on.
