Re: Flamingo - Backcountry
Good report. Buddy and I camped and fished from Tiger Key in January. For those who have never been, I have an upcoming article in the May 2022 issue of Salt Water Sportsman that is a primer for backcountry boat camping in ENP. Details on permits, passes, necessary gear, tackle suggestions, etc. I'l...

Re: Custom Truck Rocket Launcher--FS
Tom,
Not back on here often, but I do have a guy with first dibs. Hoping we can meet up this w/e. Will let you know if it falls through, He's not sure if it will fit on his truck with the bed insert he has currently installed.

Congrats. As a former Mercury owner, I am loving my new Yamaha and suspect you will, too.

Re: Charter recommendations
Good luck. Wish I had some recommendations but not for liveaboards.
Glad the Fort Myers guide put you on fish. I know several down there, so not sure who you might have booked.

Re: Sign the Pledge
A little historical perspective from someone who was in the daily trenches of the net ban years... The former Marine Fisheries Commission was an appointed agency tasked with managing the state's saltwater resources. Members were appointed by the governor, confirmed by the state Senate, but heavily i...

Re: Charter recommendations
Took two boats and ran to the Dry Tortugas from Key West several years ago. Camped and fished. It's an interesting spot, a long run out there and it can get rough. The fishing was OK, not as great as I expected. There are quite a few restrictions now, which limit where you can go. What size/style bo...

Re: Sign the Pledge
The North Carolina chapters of Coastal Conservation Association and NC Wildlife Federation are actively lobbying to ban gill and entangling nets in state waters. Contacting them and getting involved would probably be more effective and successful than alienating the public and consumers who would pr...

Re: Airboats in the St. Marks Refuge.
bbb, those are the Wakulla County ordinances. The refuge is federally owned and unless they have changed it, airboats within refuge boundaries were prohibited.
A call to the refuge office would confirm. They do have their own LEO, but they are few and far between.

Re: Mercury EFI 60 Four-Stroke FS
SK is not around as much since he moved "out west". :) I do know that he waited months and months for this to come in. So you wait long to time too. lol Yes, I was working directly with Yamaha and still had to wait a year on my new engine. So if you're looking to re-power, the Mercury wou...

Re: Mercury EFI 60 Four-Stroke FS
Finally able to connect a compatible plug for the computer and ran a diagnostic report. Engine hours are 287.2, with no faults. The report also breaks down the rpms by hour. The majority are mid-range and idle. The engine is on a rack and can be run on a hose. For anyone interested in the report, se...

Re: Mercury EFI 60 Four-Stroke FS
Going on later this week, Juan. Finally got the engine in, then had to wait for the rigging parts when the warehouse underwent a re-org/software update. Looking forward to getting back on the water and exploring. I'll finish the tackle room this week and the boat barn project will finally be done af...
