If you are missing a lot of strikes (we all do...so you are not out of the norm) you might also look at the line/leader you are using. No-stretch braid is great for the action of the lure (when paired appropriately with the stiffness of the rod), but can also lead to more misses and torn mouths. Som...

Thanks...I will try those things and give it a rip again. The issue of the fuel line and air seems like it might be the case as I have never had to work so hard to get the fuel pumped from the tank to the engine prior to starting. Make sense?

Yamaha 9.9 4 strk. Pulled it out after the winter's nap, re-fueled, cleaned carb (as much as an amateur can), changed oil, cleaned filter and got it going. Skitter...it gets around 15 on average the last time i checked. Although, I have been known to drive a bit on the conservative side. HB is making a NEW really shallow hull that looks a lot like that. Pretty sweet either way. Easy to get cocky with a skiff like that, though.
