Re: Ideal fishing conditions for Apalachee Bay
LOTS of "it depends" variables to weigh depending on precisely what you're wanting to do. For anyone wanting to fish the Econfina and Aucilla area, I'd say do lots of charting homework AT HOME before you even go to pick as safe of paths as possible for exploration, then only stay out initi...

CS: This site will be diminished without you contributing. Larry That's a little much now isn't it? See Barry's already taken care of clean-up business but for CSMarine's sake want to say this -- CS Marine had shared around 2,500 posts over an 18 year period, and a few rather unique and interesting...

Re: Local YouTube channels or other media
My channel is NOT monetized AND I don't have the time (or desire) to post daily... instead just try to post when I feel I have something "share-worthy." Will say this, do enjoy sharing videos of different outdoor aspects of the area so I've split my channel into "saltwater", &quo...

Re: New cobia regs
Have tagged and released WAY more than I've kept AND have released quite a few tagged keepers so asking this just for clarity sake regarding what seems like rather convoluted rulings... If I'm reading the latest regs right FL's state water limit is still 33" AND ONE fish per person (max 2 per v...

Re: Who's gonna be the first?
Won't be me... I'm boat-less at the moment (boat's in shop for re-powering). But sure few are trickling in, as from years of observation their timing (at least in our neck of the woods) almost perfectly matches the arrival of swallow tail kites and have seen a few flying over my place this week. :th...

For the moment believe they're only looking to stop folks from the New York and Louisiana hot-spots, and guessing with main focus on I-10 for LA folks and I-95 for NY'ers.

Re: Contracting the Coronavirus
As for reports that surely will hit on SOME younger than 50 contracting and dying from the virus, it will happen BUT for that matter also DOES happen each year with other flu and other coronaviruses. For that matter, haven't looked up the numbers yet but I bet the standard flu is proving MORE deadly...

Re: Contracting the Coronavirus
However, none of the foregoing is as an important as the health of our elderly and children. Even if mortality rates aren't high, it appears we still don't know the long term impacts that infections can have one's lungs, etc. This is one of those situations where the inconvenience of self-quarantin...

Re: 2020 Fishing Goals
Ok, moving things along from the "Let's argue with Gary" thread (honestly sympathize with BOTH sides), here's my list... 1) Quit catching so many cobia (said tongue in cheek since only thing I've targeted for about 12 years now) 2) Arguing with my own self (see item 1 above), catch a cobia...

I wish he'd get his act together and maybe he is trying.idk. If so he's sure taking his sweet time about it... David Gibbs.jpg Above shared, and noting pictures to the left are most recent and to the right are oldest... he at least looks like he's becoming a bit more dapper as he ages! He shaves hi...

Re: Gulf Council Looking for Cobia Input
As one who targets them (though I tag and release far more than I keep) and one who follows numerous online forums and social media pages dedicated to them... GOD help any of us who like to occasionally keep one if they give much stock to anecdotal / hearsay input. Most of what I see is one subset o...

Re: Opening Goliath Grouper?
Reopening this fish for harvest seems like a bad idea. https://news.fsu.edu/news/science-technology/2019/11/18/fsu-researchers-find-risk-in-opening-goliath-grouper-fishery/ ... officials intervened in 1990 and passed laws to protect the species by closing the fishery, which allowed a limited , slow...

Re: Boating Fatalities- Alligator Point
Per Steve Stinson's reference to the Hull Truth posts sounds like despite knowing about the storm they evidently underestimated it and things just went south really quickly.
